UPDATED: Young man killed after vehicle tips over on Longbranch

A 23-year-old man was killed Sunday when the old mail truck he was driving slipped in the mud, hit a tree, tipped over and pinned him on the ground at a youth camp in the Longbranch area of Pierce County.

A witness spotted the crashed mail truck just after 4:30 p.m. at Sound View Camp and Retreat Center, 8581 Key Peninsula Highway, and called 911.

Key Peninsula fire crews found the truck on its right side and Max Denby of Lynnwood pinned between the van and the ground, the fire district reported.

3 arrested in connection with church vandalism

A man and two teen boys are suspected of repeatedly burglarizing and vandalizing a church and community club on the Key Peninsula.

Pierce County sheriff’s detectives arrested the alleged culprits – ages 14, 16 and 22 – overnight on suspicion of burglary, theft and destruction of property.

The trio is accused of breaking into the Longbranch Community Church and Longbranch Improvement Club five times in the last month. The most recent break-in was sometime between 6:30 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday.
