Man fatally shot by Lakewood police in Tillicum was armed with cap gun, according to department

A man fatally shot by Lakewood police in Tillicum last week was armed with a “very realistic looking metal cap gun,” the department said Monday.

Officers said they had been looking for Patrick O’Meara, 28, for an outstanding felony warrant.

They got information that he was at a residence in the 14900 block of Washington Avenue Southwest in Tillicum, and when they arrived about 11:30 p.m. June 18, knocked on the door and identified themselves as “police.”

Armed man fatally shot by Lakewood police identified

A man who was fatally shot by Lakewood police in Tillicum Tuesday night has been identified by the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office as 28-year-old Patrick O’Meara.

Police said they opened fire on the man when he refused their commands and made a move they found threatening.

O’Meara was pronounced dead at the scene. His death was ruled a homicide, and was caused by multiple gunshot wounds, the Medical Examiner’s Office said. Those officials did not have a city of residence listed for the man.

The shooting happened about 11:15 p.m. in the 14900 block of Washington Avenue Southwest.

Homeland Security officer hurt in Lakewood released from hospital, suspect he shot stable

A Homeland Security officer a suspect hit with a car in Lakewood Wednesday night during a multi-agency narcotics investigation has been released from the hospital and should fully recover from his injuries, according to Lakewood police.

Lakewood Lt. Chris Lawler said the suspect, who the federal officer shot after the crash, is in stable condition at a local hospital.

He is a Hispanic man who has not been positively identified, Lawler said.

The federal officer is a special agent with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations, where he has worked for six years. He has 10 years

Police: Homeland Security agent hit by car, shoots suspect in Lakewood narcotics investigation

UPDATE: The Homeland Security agent struck in the leg by a fleeing suspect has been released from the hospital, an agency spokesman said.

The agent has not been identified.

INITIAL POST:A Homeland Security Investigations special agent was hit in the leg by a vehicle and shot the driver who was trying to flee officials during a multi-agency narcotics investigation Wednesday night in Lakewood, according to police.

The Drug Enforcement Agency was leading the narcotics investigation, which involved Lakewood police and other agencies.

A suspect vehicle was stopped about 8 p.m. at 108th Street Southwest and 47th Avenue Southwest.

Lakewood police surround house after guns were allegedly drawn in neighborly dispute

Officers seen along Custer Road West tonight were likely part of a Lakewood police effort to surrounded a house about 5:15 p.m. in the 6200 block of 79th Street West.

Lt. Chris Lawler said an ongoing dispute between neighbors ended when friends of one of the neighbors arrived, one allegedly with a pistol and the other with a rifle. One pointed a firearm at the opposing party and told the person to leave their friends alone, Lawler said.

Police: Man stole car from Lakewood dealership while owner had the trunk open

Police say a man drove off the lot of a Lakewood dealership with a used car Saturday, in such a hurry that he left the trunk open.

He didn’t keep it, though, officers said.

Or rather, police didn’t let him, since he allegedly stole the vehicle out from under the owner’s nose.

The owner parked his car at the dealership about 2:45 p.m. at 11503 Pacific Highway Southwest and left his keys on the dash board as he walked to the back of the car and opened the hatchback trunk to get his belongings from the car.

Lakewood officers present flag at Mariners’ home opener

This is the third year Lakewood officers and staff have unfurled the flag, following the fatal shooting of four Lakewood officers in 2009, Lt. Chris Lawler said. Man injured in shooting at Lakewood apartment Saturday night, police say

A man was injured in a shooting Saturday night at a Lakewood apartment, police said.

Police responded about 8:20 p.m. to the 5600 block of Boston Avenue after a report of a male  with a gunshot wound.

After investigation, it appears the shooting may have been the result of a struggle over a gun, and likely happened at the apartment, though the reason for the struggle isn’t clear, Lakewood police Lt. Chris Lawler said.

The man who was shot was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Detectives are doing interviews today, Lawler said.
