POSTPONED: Sentencing today for man who killed Loomis guard during Wal-Mart robbery

The man who’s admitted to shooting and killing a Loomis armored car guard last June is scheduled to beĀ  sentenced this afternoon.

UPDATE: The sentencing hearing was postponed until March 19.

Calvin Finley, 35, faces only one possibly sentence – life in prison without the possibility of parole – during the hearing, which is set to begin at 1:30 p.m. in front of Pierce County Superior Court Judge Frederick Fleming.

Finley avoided a possible death sentence when he pleaded guilty in July to aggravated first-degree murder in the June 2 slaying of Kurt Husted, who had just made a pickup

Motorcycle ride Saturday in honor of slain Loomis guard

The Tacoma Elks Lodge will be hosting a motorcycle run this weekend in honor of a Loomis armored car guard killed during a robbery in June.

Registration for the ride begins at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Elks Lodge, 1965 Union Ave. The first bikes will leave the lodge at 9:30 a.m.

The ride costs $30 for a bike and its rider and $10 for a passenger, according to a press release. The money from the event will go to the Lodge’s Veterans Committee and the Fort Lewis Warrior Transition Battalion.
