A unanimous Supreme Court accepted that recommendation Thursday, according to a news release issued today.

Elected to the bench in summer 2008, Hecht resigned late last year after being convicted of felony harassment and patronizing a prostitute. He since has completed most of the requirements of his sentence, including performing 240 hours

Hecht denied request to be declared indigent for appeal of his convictions

Former Pierce County Superior Court Judge Michael Hecht’s indigency petition was denied – again – during a hearing this morning at the Regional Justice Center in Kent.

King County Superior Court Judge James Cayce found Hecht had the ability to pay for the appeal of his October convictions on felony harassment and patronizing a prostitute. Cayce rejected Hecht’s arguments to the contrary.

Hecht had contended in court documents that he could not afford the costs of the appeal. He’s been unemployed since resigning his seat in November, days before Cayce sentenced Hecht to 240 hours of community service. (Hecht has

Former judge Hecht files notice he’s appealing his conviction and sentence

Former Pierce County Superior Court Judge Michael Hecht on Tuesday filed notice that he intends to appeal his convictions for felony harassment and patronizing a prostitute.

A jury deliberated for fewer than four hours before convicting Hecht as charged Oct. 28 after a six-day trial.
