The Deseret News has a story about students at a West Valley high school dressing up out of respect for the Powell boys killed Sunday.
A couple saying they are an aunt and uncle of Josh Powell released a statement Tuesday night, several media outlets reported.
The couple said they were saddened for the losses that came Sunday, when Josh Powell ignited a blaze inside his Graham-area rental home, killing himself and his two sons.
They also said they faulted the legal system.

Josh Powell withdrew $7,000 cash from a South Hill bank branch Saturday, according to a search warrant affidavit filed in Pierce County Superior Court today.
A teller at the Bank of America branch at 176th and Meridian contacted sheriff’s detectives Sunday to notify them of the withdrawal, the affidavit states.
The teller did not ask Powell why he was making the withdrawal.
Detectives seized transaction records and photographs of Powell taken by bank security cameras, the affidavit states.
Powell killed his young sons, Charlie and Braden, about 24 hours later.
The Curnow Funeral Home in Sumner has set up an obituary and memorial page for Charlie and Braden Powell.
The boys were killed Sunday when their father set fire to his Graham-area rental home. Josh Powell also was killed in the explosion.
No funeral arrangements have been announced for 7-year-old Charlie and 5-year-old Braden.
Chuck Cox, father of Susan Cox Powell and grandfather of Charlie and Braden Powell, spoke with reporters at his home today. Cox said he was worried what might happen if the boys had been living with their father Josh Powell full time.
Chuck and Judy Cox had been caring for the boys since September, and their father – by court order – received supervised visits with the children.
“The act he did was a cowardly act, a desperate act,” Chuck Cox said. “We had no idea (it was) going to end this way for those boys.”

At Carson Elementary School in Puyallup, where 7-year-old Charlie Powell was a first-grader, candles, stuffed animals and other symbols of a school in mourning surrounded a sign near the front entrance.
Marbel Campos and her children, McKenzie and Anthony, a Carson second-grader, placed another candle there.
“It is just devastating,” said Campos, who lives a block from the Powell boys’ grandparents.
Other parents like Damian Davis, whose daughter attends Carson, were unaware that one of the Powell children attended school there.
He said he was shocked by the news.

UPDATE: Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office reports Charlie and Braden Powell died of carbon monoxide poisoning with “chopping injuries” as a secondary cause. Authorities said they recovered a hatchet at the scene.
Josh Powell died of carbon monoxide poisoning.
