ALL CLEAR:Crash blocks lane of I-5 in Tacoma

A crash is blocking a lane of southbound Interstate 5 and part of a ramp at Pacific Avenue in Tacoma.

The incident began at 3:25 p.m., the state DOT reports.

The  crash blocks the right lane and partially blocks the ramp from Interstate 705 to southbound I-5.

Troopers and firefighters are on the scene. Drivers should expect delays.

FINAL UPDATE: All lanes are clear, as of 3:40 p.m.

Updated: All lanes opened on I-5 after tanker fire in Tacoma

4:15 a.m. FridayAll lanes have been reopened to traffic.

7:15 p.m. UPDATE: The left northbound lane and all southbound lanes have been reopened to traffic. State Patrol troopers hope to have all lanes open by 8 p.m.

A burning tanker truck closed both directions of Interstate 5 in Tacoma for about an hour Thursday afternoon, just in time for rush-hour traffic.

The driver and a passenger escaped without injury. The truck’s tank was empty, but had most recently carried gasoline.

ALL CLEAR: Crash blocking two lanes of I-5 in Tacoma

A crash is blocking the two left lanes of southbound Interstate 5 in Tacoma, the state DOT reports.

The incident began just after 9 a.m. at Pacific Avenue.

Troopers and transportation crews are headed to the scene.

UPDATE: The crash has been cleared from the roadway. However, drivers are backed up for three miles to the Port of Tacoma Road, DOT reports.

Expect lane overnight lane closures this weekend on I-5 in Pierce County

Drivers should expected tonight and Saturday on Interstate 5 in Pierce County as construction work on the busy stretch continues.

Construction crews have been doing dowel-bar retrofit and grinding work in Pierce and Thurston counties as part of a $8.4 million, stimulus-funded concrete rehabilitation project. The crews are replacing worn concrete panels along 25.5 miles of the interstate and installing dowel bars to reinforce the road. The project is supposed to be done in September.

Tonight, those crews will close three lanes of I-5 in both directions from Lakewood to Tacoma. The closures begin at 7 p.m. with a single

ALL CLEAR: Crashes cause traffic delays on I-5 in Tacoma

A crash is blocking the left lane of northbound Interstate 5 in Tacoma, the state DOT reports.

The crash is just south of Pacific Avneue.

Troopers and transportation crews are headed to the scene.

UPDATE: The crash has been cleared to the right shoulder and the lane reopened to traffic. Drivers are backed up one mile to the state Route 16 interchange.

Meanwhile, a second crash is now blocking the two left lanes of southbound I-5 at the Tacoma Dome, the state DOT reports. Firefighters and medical aid are on the scene, DOT reports.

A crash is blocking the left lane of southbound Interstate 5 at Yakima Avenue in Tacoma, the state DOT reports.

The collision occurred shortly before 8 a.m. Troopers and transportation crews are on the scene.

UPDATE: The collision has been cleared and the roadway reopened.

ALL CLEAR: Two lanes of I-5 closed in Olympia for emergency repairs

Construction crews have closed the left two lanes of northbound Interstate 5 at Pacific Avenue in Olympia this morning for emergency pavement repairs.

The closure began about 11 a.m. It was not immediately known when the roadway would reopen.

Troopers are on the scene.

UPDATE: The repairs have been completed and lanes are reopened.
