UPDATED: Good samaritan helps young woman in need of urgent medical attention on I-5

A truck driver who had a flat tire came to the aid this morning of a young woman who crawled over the guardrail near the Nisqually River onto Interstate 5.

The 23-year-old Centralia woman was in her underwear and soaking wet. She was covered in scratches from the sticker bushes and is expected to make a full recovery, the Washington State Patrol reported.

The truck driver’s “willingness to help this girl could have saved her life,” trooper Guy Gill said.

The truck driver, a  Portland man, got a flat tire on the trailer he was towing just before 8:30 a.m.

Seattle warehouse fire affecting I-5 commute

A four-alarm fire in a vacant south Seattle warehouse is causing some traffic problems on Interstate 5.

The State Patrol has closed two lanes of southbound I-5 at South Spokane Street, according to Twitter. Southbound drivers are backed up for four miles and northbound drivers are backed up for two miles.

The state Department of Transportation advises motorists to treat the smoke like fog.

“Reduce speed and use low-beam headlights,” DOT reported on Twitter.

Man injured in crash on ramp to I-5 in Olympia

A 53-year-old Florida man was seriously injured early today when his pickup truck rolled over on the exit from Highway 101 to Interstate 5 in Olympia.

The man was taken to  Providence St. Peter Hospital, then airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment, the Washington State Patrol reported.

The crash occurred just after 12:20 a.m. The man was taking the ramp from southbound 101 to northbound I-5 when his truck left the roadway and landed on its roof, troopers reported.

The truck was totalled.

The cause of the wreck was under investigation.

ALL CLEAR: Crash blocks two lanes of I-5 in Tacoma

Two lanes of northbound Interstate 5 near the Puyallup River Bridge are blocked this morning because of a multiple-vehicle crash that involves a semi truck.

Drivers are backed up for two miles to Yakima Avenue, the state DOT reports.

Troopers are on the scene.

UPDATE: The crash has been cleared away but drivers are backed up for four miles to 48th Street.

ALL CLEAR: Crash blocks lane of I-5 at Nisqually Bridge

A crash is blocking the center lane of northbound Interstate 5 near the Nisqually Bridge in Thurston County, the state DOT reports.

The incident began shortly after 7:30 a.m. Troopers and DOT crews were headed to the scene.

Traffic was backing up because of the crash.

UPDATE: The crash near Nisqually has been cleared. There is now a five-vehicle crash at Mounts Road. Drivers are backed up five miles.

UPDATE No. 2: Both crashes have been cleared and the lanes are reopened to traffic. The backup continues to be about five miles.

ALL CLEAR: Off-ramp from I-5 to SR 16 partially blocked

A disabled semi lost its trailer and is blocking the left lane of the southbound Interstate 5 off-ramp to westbound state Route 16.

Fire trucks and medical aid units are blocking the right lane of southbound I-5, the state DOT reports.

UPDATE: A tow truck has removed the semi. Traffic is backed up for about a mile but the backup is dissipating.
