Tacoma police looking for hit-and-run suspect

Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle that allegedly hit a pedestrian near North 26th and North Shirley streets last week and fled.

A woman in her early 50s was hit and seriously injured about 8 p.m. on July 5, according to Tacoma police.

The car is described as something similar to a 2009 silver Volkswagen hatchback, possibly a GTI, Golf or Rabbit, with a roof rack and chrome rims.

Its front bumper and hood are likely damaged, and possibly its windshield.

UPDATED: Driver sought after deadly hit-and-run in Tacoma

Tacoma police were searching for a driver who fled the scene of a deadly hit-and-run crash along Sixth Avenue late Wednesday.

About 11:50 p.m., a pickup truck was going eastbound in the 4600 block of Sixth Avenue. A witness reported that the truck was speeding when it lost control, drifted into the parking lane and hit three parked vehicles, police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.

The driver, described as a white man in his 40s, got out and ran from the crashed truck. The passenger in the vehicle, a 44-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies seek information on hit-and-run east of Tacoma

Pierce County sheriff’s deputies are looking for the driver who hit and injured a pedestrian Wednesday night just east of Tacoma.

The incident occurred just after 8:10 p.m. in the 4200 block of 72nd Street East, the Sheriff’s Department reported.

A 20-year-old man was running from a driveway into the roadway and was hit by a vehicle going east on 72nd Street East.The vehicle didn’t stop and continued on.

The man was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries, which were not considered life threatening, deputies reported.

UPDATED: Covington man killed Saturday in motorcycle crash in Tacoma neighborhood

A 30-year-old Covington man was killed early Saturday when his motorcycle was struck by a hit-and-run vehicle in a Tacoma neighborhood.

Darnell Chocklon had been riding his motorcycle without a helmet, Tacoma police reported. Officers spotted him driving in a reckless manner on Sixth Avenue early Saturday. Police tried to stop the motorcyclist but he fled at a high rate of speed.

DUI patrol in Puyallup dedicated to hit-and-run victim

Law enforcement officers are dedicating Saturday’s county DUI emphasis patrol to a Spanaway man killed by a drunk driver near Puyallup in May 2008.

The Puyallup Police Department is hosting a ceremony for Robert Adam Hawkins, 51, at Puyallup City Hall, 8 p.m. Saturday.

Hawkins was driving home from work early May 20 when his Honda Civic was T-boned by a Honda Accord at the intersection of 66th Avenue East and River Road.

The Accord driver, Michael David Vaudrin, 28, sped away but was arrested shortly after. Vaudrin had been bar hopping and had run a red light before striking

Hit-and-run: police searching for car that struck bike in Tacoma

Police are searching for a car involved in a hit-and-run near the intersection of S. 19th Street and Cedar Street Monday afternoon.

The car-versus-bicycle collision happened around 4:40 p.m., according to police scanner chatter. The vehicle, which left the scene, was described as a white sedan driven by a female in her 20s.

UPDATED: Three injured, one critically, in Federal Way hit-and-run

Federal Way police were looking into whether alcohol was involved in a hit-and-run accident Wednesday night that injured two pedestrians, one critically.

The suspected driver, a 59-year-old Federal Way man, was later found at near a residence not too far from the crash scene. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with non-life threatening injuries, police reported.

The two injured pedestrians were a 16-year-old Tacoma  boy and a 20-year-old Kent man. The boy was released to a family member after being interviewed and transported for medical care, police reported.

The Kent man was airlifted to Harborview for treatment

84-year-old man charged in Pierce County road rage incident

Pierce County prosecutors have charged an 84-year-old man after he allegedly pulled a gun during a road rage incident Friday.

John L. Hanly was charged Monday with second-degree assault and failure to remain at the scene of an occupied collision.

Charging documents provide the following information:

Pierce County sheriff’s deputies and Washington State Patrol troopers responded to the scene of a hit-and-run crash Friday. Initial reports indicated that the suspect vehicle was being followed by another vehicle.
