Lakewood firefighters will hit the streets this weekend with their boots to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Firefighters will stand at intersections around Lakewood Towne Center today and Sunday for their annual Fill-the-Boot fundraiser. Crews hope to collect $10,000 in donations from motorists stopped at the intersections, according to a press release.

Proceeds from the campaign will go to the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s services and research programs.

Firefighters from East Pierce Fire and Rescue will be out today as part of their annual “Fill the Boot” campaign to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

With their boots in hand, firefighters will be at the intersection of 24th Street and Meridian in Edgewood and at the corner of Valley Avenue and Main Street in Sumner from noon to 6 p.m. They’ll ask for donations from motorists stopped at the intersections.

Local law enforcement are again fishing for donations from the roof of the Krispy Kreme doughnut shop.

Officers will be raising money for Special Olympics Washington. They will be on the roof of the doughnut shop at 4302 Tacoma Mall Blvd. today, Saturday and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Officers from several Pierce County law enforcement agencies will be taking their turn atop Krispy Kreme.

Officers from several Pierce County law enforcement agencies will be waiting tables at local Red Robin restaurants Saturday to raise money for Special Olympics Washington.

Puyallup police officers will be working tables inside the Red Robin at 3809 Ninth St. S.W. Meanwhile, officers from Fircrest, Tacoma and other police departments will be working for tips at the Tacoma Red Robin, 3901 S. Steele St.

At each location, the Tip-A-Cop fund raiser is scheduled from noon to 8 p.m. Officers will team up with the professional wait staff to earn donations.
