Medical Examiner identifies one of five people shot and killed Sunday night in Federal Way

The King County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified one of five people who were shot and killed in Federal Way Sunday night as Caesar Valdovinos, 23.

The office said he died from a gunshot wound to his trunk, and that his death was ruled a homicide.

The other four gunshot victims have not yet been identified.

Federal Way officers fired upon a 27-year-old man as he reached for a gun, according to Federal Way police, who said Monday that man had shot the other four.



Elderly woman hit by car in Federal Way, hospitalized with life-threatening injuries

A woman in her 80s was hit by a car just before 5 :30 tonight in the 1400 block of South 312th Street in Federal Way, according to police.

She was taken to Harborview Medical center with life-threatening injuries.

West South 312th Street is closed between Pacific Highway South and 14th Avenue South as crews investigate, and is expected to be shut down for three to five hours.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

Officers do not suspect drugs or alcohol were involved, Federal Way police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock said.


Two men charged in fatal Federal Way stabbing

King County prosecutors charged Jorge Santos-Rocha, 24, and Santiago De La Cruz, 27, with second-degree murder Wednesday afternoon in connection with the stabbing death of a man outside a Federal Way bar Saturday.

The defendants were also charged with second-degree assault for hitting and injuring another man with a vehicle, prosecutors said.

According to charging documents:

Officers were called to a fight at a bar in the 2000 block of South 320th Street.

They arrived to find the body of 34-year-old Luis Garcia Caceres in the parking lot.

Motorcyclist and 8-year-old passenger taken to hospital after collision with bus in Federal Way

A motorcycle-bus collision tonight in Federal Way sent the 39-year-old driver of the bike and his 8-year-old passenger to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Federal Way police said.

The collision happened about 7 p.m. at South 316th Street and Pacific Highway South, police said.

No one on the bus was injured, and there will be no major traffic investigation, police said.



Federal Way police looking for man missing since April from private care facility

Federal Way police say they are looking for a man who has been missing since April and suffers from physical and mental disabilities.

Raymond Lee Shiflet, 47, walked away from a private care facility April 15 in the 3200 block of Southwest 344th Street, police said.

He went missing twice in 2011 and was returned both times after being approached by law enforcement.

Police have distributed law enforcement and public bulletins about Shiflet over the past several months.

His family out-of-state has not heard from him, police said.

UPDATED: Federal Way woman reported missing

UPDATE: Huang contacted her husband about 6:30 p.m. July 27 and they were reunited, according to Federal Way Police. Officials said there was no crime.

INITIAL POST: Police are looking for 39-year-old Vesuvius Huang of Federal Way, whose husband told police she was not home when he woke up about 10 a.m. Wednesday.

He reported Huang missing to Commons Mall security and Federal Way police after she didn’t answer his phone calls and he started worrying about 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Her vehicle was found in the mall parking lot.

Federal Way police said they don’t suspect foul play at this time.

Memorial service today for Federal Way officer who died last weekend

Federal Way police and other area law enforcement officers will gather this afternoon to remember a 34-year-old police officer who died of a heart attack last weekend while on duty.

The service for Brian M. Walsh begins at 1 p.m. today at Christian Faith Center, 33645 20th Ave. S., in Federal Way. The public is invited to attend.

A procession of law enforcement and other emergency services vehicles will take place before the service. The procession begins at Celebration Park, 1111 S. 324th St., and will go to the Christian Faith Center. Drivers should expect delays.
