Police: Five people shot dead at Federal Way apartment complex

UPDATE as of 1:40 a.m. Police are not looking for any suspects at this time, Schrock said. Police are interviewing witnesses. Eight Federal Way officers fired upon the man who reached for the gun, and will be placed on administrative leave, per procedure, while the shooting is investigated, Schrock said.

The exact address and name of the complex appears to be the Pinewood Village Apartments, 33311 18th Ln. S. The ages of the deceased were not immediately available, but Schrock said all were adults.

Police: Patrol car and suspect vehicle crash separately after armed robbery in Federal Way

A police car and suspect vehicle crashed separately after an armed robbery in Federal Way Saturday morning, police said.

A 16-year-old boy approached a man on foot about 11 a.m. near 3001 South 288th Street, hit him in the head, and showed a handgun, Federal Way police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock said.

The boy fled with the victim’s wallet and backpack in a vehicle driven by a 19-year-old man, Schrock said.

The suspect vehicle was found parked nearby, and it rammed into a police vehicle while trying to flee, Schrock said.

UPDATED: Elderly Federal Way man missing since Monday found safe

UPDATE as of 1:12 a.m.: Seattle police found Snodgrass and his vehicle safe just after midnight.

INITIAL POST: An 85-year-old Federal Way man has been missing since noon Monday, according to police.

Edward Snodgrass was last seen leaving his home in the 32400 block of 44th Avenue South, wearing a plain blue baseball cap, green coat, black sweatshirt and black Dickies pants.

He was heading to an appointment at the Veterans Affairs clinic in Federal Way. A relative planned to drive him, but Snodgrass didn’t want to wait and took off in his 2002 white Chevrolet S10 truck, according to

Police: Federal Way High School student expelled after unloaded gun found in backpack

From news partner KIRO-TV:

A student at Federal Way High School was expelled after an unloaded gun was discovered in his backpack Friday, police said.

According to the Federal Way Police Department, there was an accusation that a student brought alcohol to the school.

After a search, police found an unloaded handgun in the student’s locker.

The student was taken into custody and was expelled.

School officials sent a letter home with students Tuesday about the incident.

Remains found in Federal Way identified as missing Lakewood man

Skeletal remains found in Federal Way Feb. 22 have been identified as Faatoaga Tavita Ufuti by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office.

What caused his death is still being investigated.

Ufuti was 43 when he was reported missing from his Lakewood home March 12, 2012.

His then-pregnant wife assumed he had run to the store when she woke up that morning and found her husband missing.

He had a 1-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter at the time, and his wife was expected to give birth again in September.

The investigation into his death and disappearance is ongoing.

Police looking for suspects in series of wallet thefts from elderly shoppers

Federal Way police are looking for three or four suspects in a series of thefts throughout King County that happened between Nov. 26 and 30.

The suspects steal wallets from elderly women as they shop, and then go to another store to purchase Visa gift cards, according to police.

In many cases, officers say they also get a greeting card and tell the cashier the purchases are for a family member.

This has happened in Federal Way, Kent, Mercer Island, Bellevue, Seattle and unincorporated King County, police say.

Federal Way police looking for man they say almost shot infant

Federal Way police are looking for a man they say fired a handgun at his girlfriend’s apartment earlier this month, almost hitting a 1-year-old child.

Dvontaveous Hoston fired the gun Oct. 15 during an argument with another resident of the apartment, police say.

The gun, described as a “rusty chrome .38 caliber,” was not recovered.

A felony warrant for reckless endangerment and first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm was issued for Hoston’s arrest, police say.

Police consider Hoston armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about his whereabouts should not contact him, and instead should call 911, according to police.

Auburn police deactivate bomb woman found in gas hatch of her vehicle

A woman found an explosive device in the gas hatch of her vehicle this afternoon when she stopped to get fuel at Fred Meyer in Auburn, police said.

Auburn police responded about 2:30 p.m. to the parking lot at 8th Street Northeast and Auburn Way North, Commander Mike Hirman said.

The woman, from Auburn, called when she saw what looked like a fuse and tape sticking out of the hatch.

Hirman said the Federal Way bomb squad deactivated the device and police finished securing the scene just before 5 p.m.
