The jury has convicted a 22-year-old man on trial in the 2010 slaying of Camille Love.

The verdict was read shortly after 2:40 p.m. News Tribune staff writer Adam Lynn is in the courtroom.

Pierce County prosecutors have alleged Eduardo Sandoval was a lookout on Feb. 7, 2010, when the 20-year-old Love was fatally shot as she drove her car down an  East Side street. Her brother, who was in the passenger seat, was wounded.

Associated Ministries will conduct a Moment of Blessing ceremony today for a 26-year-old mother killed New Year’s Day while sleeping on the couch of an East Side home.

The brief, spiritual ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. at the home in the 8400 block of East D Street.

A 22-year-old man suspected of fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend and injuring another man late Sunday in Tacoma was later found dead.

Officers found the man at Larchmont Elementary School about 4:45 a.m. today, Tacoma police spokesman Mark Fulghum said. He had died from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Investigators believe the man shot his 26-year-old ex-girlfriend and injured a 29-year-old man about 11:40 p.m. Sunday.

The shooting occurred inside the older man’s home in the 8400 block of East D Street, Fulghum said. There were other people inside the home at the time. …

Not guilty pleas were entered on Clark’s behalf during his arraignment this afternoon.

Superior Court Judge Beverly Grant set bail at $2 million.

Pierce County prosecutors have charged Anthony T. Clark with first-degree murder, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

Clark, 20, is expected to be arraigned at 3 p.m. today, according to the Pierce County Superior Court website.

Prosecutors allege Clark shot  16-year-old Devondre Davis in the back of the head on Wednesday.

Tacoma police officers are investigating a fight on the East Side.

A 16-year-old boy was reportedly punched in the face near East 32nd Street and Portland Avenue shortly before 1 p.m. today. As the boy ran away, he heard a gunshot, Tacoma police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.

The boy provided officers with a description. Tacoma police and Puyallup Tribal police officers located the suspect and arrested him. He told officers his gun accidentally discharged. He no longer had the weapon, Fulghum said.

No one was injured by the gunfire.

Tacoma police were still investigating what happened.

Thieves have been targeting mail boxes on Tacoma’s East Side.

The Tacoma Police Department reports an increase in mail theft in neighborhoods south of 56th Street, according to an email from community liaison officer Don Hensley to Safe Streets.

Several residents have found pieces of discarded mail on the street. The mail is from nearby neighborhoods, Hensley wrote.

One resident spotted a young woman trying to steal a package Wednesday morning from a porch near the 7200 block of A Street. When confronted, the woman took off.

Tacoma officers responded and found the woman.

Tacoma police were investigating a drive-by shooting late Wednesday on the East Side that slightly injured two women.

Witnesses reported that a gunman fired at a tan minivan as it drove on East 30th Street near Portland Avenue about 11:15 p.m. The gunman then stashed two weapons – an AK-47 and an AR-15 – under a nearby vehicle and got into a newer black BMW, officers reported.

Tacoma firefighters are battling a house fire in the 2000 block of East 70th Street.

Several people called 911 about the fire at 10:05 a.m.

“First arriving crews found a fairly established fire on the first floor of two-story house,” Tacoma fire spokesman Joe Meinecke said.

UPDATE: The occupants of the home made it out safely by the time firefighters arrived, Meinecke said. No injuries have been reported.

Firefighters are working to put out the hot spots.

“There’s quite a bit of damage to the house,” Meinecke said.
