Police say 2 drive-by shootings Saturday night don’t seem related

Tacoma police responded to two drive-by shootings Saturday night, but they said the two didn’t seem to be related.

Officers were called about 9:45 p.m. to the 4200 block of East Q Street for reported sounds of a vehicle speeding away and several gunshots being fired.

A 14-year-old sitting inside another vehicle suffered a non-life-threatening injury from a bullet that grazed the back of his head, police said.

Officers booked a 16-year-old suspect into Remann Hall in connection with the shooting, police said.

Two driveby shootings reported Tuesday in Tacoma, but no one injured

Tacoma police were investigating two driveby shootings Tuesday night. No injuries were reported in either incident.

The first incident occurred about 10:30 p.m.  The victims were driving south in the 7200 block of Interstate 5 in Tacoma when a silver Intrepid pulled up.

Occupants of the Intrepid flashed gang signs at the other can and then someone fired one round from a gun, police reported. The bullet struck the wheel of the other vehicle.

Witnesses got a partial license plate of the suspects’ vehicle. The number and a description of the vehicle was broadcast to on-duty patrol officers, police said.

Teen seriously wounded in drive-by Friday night on East Side

A teenager was seriously injured Friday night in a drive-by shooting on Tacoma’s East Side.

The 15-year-old boy’s gunshot wounds were initially considered life threatening, police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.

The boy and three friends were walking near East 32nd Street and Portland Avenue about 9:45 p.m. Friday when a four-door vehicle pulled up next to them, Fulghum said.

Someone inside the vehicle fired five to six gunshots at the group. The teen was hit.

Puyallup Tribal police and Tacoma firefighters responded to the scene.

Tacoma police were looking into whether the shooting was gang motivated.

UPDATED: Warrant issued in road-rage shooting of Tacoma girl

Tacoma police investigators have identified the man suspected of firing a gun during a road rage incident Sunday and striking a 2-year-old girl riding in a car on the East Side.

A warrant was issued today for Sauni “Johnny” Misi, 33, Tacoma police reported. He’s been charged with three counts of first-degree assault and one count of driveby shooting.

The incident occurred Sunday about 2 p.m. Police reported the girl was riding in a car with her father and his girlfriend.

Another defendant pleads guilty in deadly 2008 Tacoma drive-by shooting

A 21-year-old man charged in a deadly 2008 driveby shooting on a Tacoma street pleaded guilty in the case earlier this week.

Jesus James Cota Ancheta pleaded guilty Wednesday to second-degree murder with a deadly weapon enhancement, deputy prosecutor Greg Greer reported. Prosecutors plan to ask for the high-end of the standard range when he’s sentenced in January.

Cota Ancheta is one of six young adults charged in the May 10, 2008, death of Tracy Steele. Steele, 32, was attending a barbecue near South 41st and J streets when he was killed in a drive-by shooting in the early morning

Tacoma police investigating driveby shooting, stabbing

Tacoma police detectives will be working to get to the bottom of two incidents Sunday night.

The first was a stabbing in the 9800 block of Pacific Avenue. It occurred about 9:45 p.m.

The victim, a 41-year-old Seattle man, got into an argument with an unknown suspect, Tacoma police spokesman Mark Fulghum said. The victim was stabbed and his attacker fled.

The victim was undergoing treatment at a local hospital.

Detectives also will be trying to figure out who wounded a 21-year-old man in a driveby shooting and why.
