Tacoma police activity downtown, South End

In case you’re wondering about police activity either downtown or in the South End, here’s what is (or was) going on …

Officers responded to a report of an assault on a Pierce Transit bus about 12:50 p.m. The bus was stopped at South 13th and Commerce streets, Tacoma police reported. (The initial dispatch indicated the victim had been stabbed. It turned out the victim had been beaten and punched, not stabbed.)

The suspect got off the bus and was last seen walking westbound on 13th Street with a woman. No arrests have been reported.

UPDATED: Downtown Tacoma bank branch robbed

Tacoma police were investigating a robbery at a downtown bank branch this afternoon.

The First Citizens Bank, 801 Pacific Ave., occurred at 2:50 p.m. According to initial reports, a man went into the bank and demanded cash, police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.

He fled and was seen getting into a waiting vehicle. The vehicle, described as a Volvo, took off. The robber was described as a light skinned man in his mid-20s and about 5 feet 4. He wore a dark hat, beige jacket and blue jeans, Fulghum said.

Two injured in stabbing in downtown Tacoma

Two men were injured Wednesday night when an argument led to a stabbing in downtown Tacoma.

Neither of the men’s injuries were considered life threatening, Tacoma police reported.

The incident began inside an apartment of the Winthrop in the 700 block of Commerce Street shortly before 10 p.m. There had been an argument in the apartment, police reported.

A man and woman left and went outside. Another man, described as the suspect, followed them.

The suspect and other man got into a fight in the roadway. The suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim several times, police reported.
