Tacoma police chief denies Internet rumor that he’s stepping down

Internet Web publisher John Hathaway reported today that Tacoma Police Chief Don Ramsdell was stepping down.

In a conversation with The News Tribune this morning, Ramsdell said he was not retiring and has no plans to do so any time soon. For one thing, the chief hasn’t reached retirement eligibility.

Ramsdell told The News Tribune he still has lots to do with the department and initiatives under way.


Tacoma police chief responds to union’s complaints

Tacoma Police Chief Don Ramsdell responded Friday to complaints raised by members of a commanders union about one of the department’s assistant police chiefs.

The letter from the Tacoma Police Management Association was sent Wednesday and leaked to KIRO TV.
