Barn destroyed in Covington fire

Fire investigators were looking into what sparked a blaze inside a Covington barn Tuesday night.

King County and Kent firefighters were called to the barn in the 17800 block of Covington-Sawyer Road shortly before 9:30 p.m. A neighbor reported seeing flames shooting from the structure, Kent firefighters reported. The blaze also was spreading to nearby fir trees.

Firefighters kept the flames from spreading to other buildings as they doused the blaze, firefighters reported.

The property owners rescued a pony from another barn. The burning barn – and a travel trailer inside – were destroyed.

No one was injured.
