UPDATED: Tacoma police find truck taken early today in East Side carjacking

UPDATED WITH NEW INFORMATION

Three to four suspects – two armed with guns – robbed a man of his pickup truck early today. Tacoma police have since found the stolen red truck abandoned in a Fife motel parking lot and were in the processing of recovering it.

The 35-year-old victim flagged down Tacoma police officers shortly before 1 a.m. in the 3700 block of Portland Avenue, police reported.

Lakewood police searching for carjacker at Lewis-McChord

Lakewood police are searching for a carjacker who abandoned a vehicle at Joint Base Lewis-McChord Monday night after a high-speed chase.

The incident started around 5 p.m., when an off-duty police sergeant was driving home southbound on I-5, according to Lakewood police spokeswoman Heidi Hoffman.

Near the Dupont exit, the officer saw an 1993 Acura Legend speeding at over 100 mph on the shoulder of the freeway. The sergeant followed the car to the Dupont off-ramp, where the Acura collided into a railroad crossing arm.
