UPDATED: Search called off for missing Puyallup River inner tuber

UPDATE as of 6 p.m.: The search for a Buckley man who went missing while inner tubing on the Puyallup River was called off this evening.

“We will not be resuming it,” Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said. “We’ve exhausted everything we can possibly do.”
He said search and rescue crews will reevaluate the situation once the water level goes down.

UPDATED: Man arraigned today on charges in deadly Buckley crash

A young man accused in a deadly car crash earlier this year in Buckley turned himself into authorities Thursday.

Ryan R. Bogue, 18, was booked into Pierce County Jail on Thursday. He was arraigned this afternoon on charges of vehicular homicide and failure to remain at the scene of a deadly accident. Bogue was ordered held in Pierce County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.

On Monday, Pierce County prosecutors charged Bogue in an Aug. 3 crash that killed Traevon Norton, 17. A warrant had been issued for his arrest.

Charges filed against young man in deadly August crash in Buckley

Pierce County prosecutors have filed charges against an 18-year-old man accused of crashing his car in August in Buckley, then leaving his mortally wounded passenger behind.

Ryan R. Bogue was charged Monday with vehicular homicide and failure to remain at the scene of a deadly accident. A bench warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Buckley councilman facing child sex charges releases statement

A Buckley City Councilman accused of child sex crimes released a statement denying the allegations against him late Thursday.

The statement from Randy Reed, released via email through his attorney Tanja Vance, read:

For the past several weeks I have cooperated fully with Pierce County Prosecutors in their effort to investigate these serious but unfounded allegations.

I am innocent of all charges. I deny all allegations. I intend to defend myself, and expect to be fully exonerated.

Buckley councilman charged in child sex case

Pierce County prosecutors have filed child rape charges against a Buckley City Council member, alleging he inappropriately touched a girl he knows.

Randy R. Reed, 54, was charged today with first-degree child rape and first-degree child molestation. A summons has been issued for Reed to be arraigned on the charges Sept. 29, the Prosecutor’s Office reported.

Prosecutors allege Reed inappropriately touched and exposed himself to the 7-year-old daughter of a woman he knows over a six-month period this year. He also had her inappropriately touch him.

Man killed in fiery Buckley crash identified

A 22-year-old man who died Friday after his car went off state Route 165 in Buckley and hit a power pole before bursting into flames has been identified as Richard Albright.

The crash occurred about 2 a.m. at Route 165 and 128th Street East. Albright was heading north when he missed a curve in the road and struck an 80-foot power pole with his vehicle, according to the Washington State Patrol.

East Pierce Fire & Rescue firefighters were called to extinguish the flames, which spread from Albright’s vehicle to the power pole.

Albright died at the scene.

UPDATED: One killed in crash overnight on SR 165 in Buckley

UPDATED at 8:15 a.m.

A man was killed early today after his  four-door sedan went off state Route 165 in Buckley and crashed into a power pole, the Washington State Patrol reported.

The crash occurred just after 2 a.m. at  SR 165 and 128th Street East.

The driver had been going north on SR 165 when he failed to negotiate a curve, went off the road and hit the pole. The car burst into flames, troopers reported.

East Pierce Fire & Rescue firefighters doused the flames on the car and the 80-foot power pole, the agency reported.

Two injured in overnight crash on SR 410 outside Buckley

Two people were injured early today when their car veered off state Route 410 just outside of Buckley and hit a guardrail, the Washington State Patrol reported.

A 21-year-old Enumclaw man was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Enumclaw. The 20-year-old Buckley woman in the passenger seat was transported to Harborview Medical Center. Their conditions were not known this morning.

The man was driving a Chevrolet Camaro eastbound on state Route 410 when he hit the guardrail near 244th Avenue Southeast just after 12:45 a.m., troopers reported.
