Firefighters put out brush fire, police take report of 3 men seen nearby

Firefighters put out a brush fire this afternoon between East 38th and Fairbanks streets, off of East M Street.

Tacoma Fire was called to the blaze about 3:30 p.m.

No one was injured, and no buildings were damaged, Battalion Chief Dave McRoberts said.

Tacoma police took a witness report of three males between the ages of 18 and 25 seen in the area, McRoberts said.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, he added.

Brush fire burns field by South Harrison Street

Firefighters were called to the 100 block of South Harrison Street at 5:01 p.m. for a brush fire in a field north of the address, according to Tacoma Fire.

It spread to about 15 by 75 feet, and crews have knocked most of it down, Tacoma Fire Battalion Chief Ray Manglona said.

Firefighters are currently working on knocking down the edges, he said.

No one was injured and the fire didn’t reach any buildings.
