Meeting Tuesday about Level 3 sex offender released into Bonney Lake

Bonney Lake police will host a community meeting Tuesday night regarding a Level 3 sex offender that recently moved into the 8100 block of 185th Avenue East.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bonney Lake Elementary School.

Bonney Lake police and Pierce County Sheriff’s detectives will be on hand to answer questions from the community.

11 suspected drunken drivers arrested during emphasis in Bonney Lake, Sumner

Law enforcement officers arrested 11 suspected drunken drivers during an emphasis patrol last week in Bonney Lake and Sumner and along Highway 410.

In addition, officers arrested eight drivers on suspicion of felony and misdemeanor drug charges and eight drivers on other misdemeanor and felony charges, the Tacoma-Pierce County DUI and Traffic Safety Task Force reported today.

The enforcement action took place Friday. Officers stopped 276 drivers.

“Our focus Friday night was to remove impaired drivers from the road who could have killed someone if we had not arrested them,” Bonney Lake Police Chief Mike Mitchell said in a press

Bonney Lake Police bust pot operation

Bonney Lake Police busted a large pot growing operation in the city Tuesday afternoon, seizing about 100 marijuana plants and arresting two men.

Assisted by members of the Metro SWAT team, the police served a search warrant around 3:30 p.m. on a residence on the 20900 block of 92nd Avenue East. In addition to the marijuana, investigators seized several vehicles and other items that are believed to be stolen. The two suspects are in custody on suspicion of unlawful manufacturing of marijuana.

Man wanted in Bonney Lake luring incident now in custody

A man wanted for luring a Bonney Lake football player to a library and trying to get a piggy back ride has turned himself into police.

The man went to Bonney Lake police about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, the department reported. He was arrested without incident on suspicion of one count of fourth-degree assault.

Bonney Lake police allege the man lured a Bonney Lake High School football player to the library Monday with the ruse of offering to help with a college term paper interview. During the contact, the man started acting strangely and the teen decided to leave.

Bonney Lake police looking for man in luring incident

Bonney Lake police are warning high school students – particularly student athletes – to be wary of contact with strangers.

The warning comes after a Bonney Lake High School football player was lured to the public library on Monday. The suspect claimed he was going to help the player with a college term paper interview, police reported.

During the library meeting, the suspect identified himself as “Dale.” The student got suspicious when the suspect acted strangely, police reported.

When the student decided to leave, the suspect jumped on the student’s back and asked for a piggy back ride, police reported.

Man charged in burglary of $15,000 worth of cigarettes

Pierce County prosecutors have charged 35-year-old man in connection with  burglary at a Bonney Lake cigar store earlier this week.

Court documents provide the following information:

Bonney Lake police were called to the Cigar Store, 19641 State Route 410, on Wednesday for a burglary alarm. They found a rock had been thrown through a window and a number of cigarette cartoons stolen. A store employee responded to the scene and reported that $15,000 worth of cigarettes were taken.
