Washington State Patrol troopers are searching for witnesses to a hit-and-run crash Thursday night along state Route 410 in the Bonney Lake area.

A car and motorcycle crashed into each other just after 10:15 p.m. near 234th Avenue East. The car, described as a 1987 or 1988 Toyota Camry, didn’t stop. It was last seen going east on SR 410, troopers reported. It likely will have damage to the left front side of the car.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or spotted the fleeing vehicle is asked to call State Patrol detectives at 253-538-3174 or 253-538-3172.

A woman was injured and a man arrested early today after a police pursuit in Bonney Lake.

The woman suffered minor injuries after she got out of the fleeing truck and was ran over by the truck’s rear passenger wheel, Bonney Lake police reported. She refused medical treatment at the scene and was not taken to hospital.

The incident began just after 3 a.m. A Bonney Lake police officer tried to stop a truck that was driving recklessly in the 19800 block of 100th Street East, police reported.

A Bonney Lake police sergeant has resigned amidst an internal investigation into allegations that officers got paid for time they didn’t work on a grant-funded traffic enforcement program.

The sergeant, who’s name was not released, was in charge of the program, the Bonney Lake Police Department announced today.

“The sergeant in charge was found to have given orders that were in conflict with the department’s standard policy and procedures manual and has recently resigned his position from the department prior to corrective action being initiated against him,” a department press release stated. “His resignation came as a direct result of …

There’s an email going around Bonney Lake and a flurry of Facebook activity regarding a white SUV that’s been spotted trying to snatch kids.

Before I could get all the words out of my mouth, a record specialist at the Bonney Lake Police Department told me the report is a rumor, completely false.

Pierce County sheriff’s deputies found a 47-year-old man dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound early today after an overnight standoff in the Bonney Lake area.

No sheriff’s deputies or others were injured during the incident in the 14600 block of Prairie Ridge Drive East, Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said. No deputies fired their weapons during the standoff, he added.

Investigators suspect alcohol and drugs played a role what happened.

The widening project on State Route 410 in Bonney Lake means motorists can expect nighttime closures and short delays this week.

Construction crews are working from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. between 214^th and 234^th avenues and trucks will be coming in and out of the work zone.

At night, flaggers will control one-way, alternating traffic from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. until Friday. They will also be working from 8 p.m. Saturday until 8 a.m. Sunday.

Pierce County law enforcement officers arrested 20 teens at a graduation party stocked with beer, whiskey and marijuana last weekend at a Bonney Lake home.

Of those arrested, a 19-year-old man was booked into Pierce County Jail on suspicion of providing the premises for the underage drinking party, according to a press release from Pierce County. The young man and his 17-year-old brother were allegedly hosting the party Saturday night while their parents were at an out-of-state wedding. Two “beer pong” tables were set up to play the popular drinking game.

Fire caused nearly $90,000 in damage to a Bonney Lake duplex Friday morning, East Pierce Fire & Rescue reported.

The blaze broke out about 9:30 a.m. in one unit of the single-story duplex in the 19600 block of 94th Street East.

Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from the roof and a bedroom window, according to a news release. 

No one was home at the time, and no injuries were reported.

Investigators were trying to determine the cause. The blaze began near a wall heater, the news release stated.
