Basement fire in South Auburn; no injuries

Firefighters extinguished a basement fire at a South Auburn home Tuesday afternoon.

Valley Regional Fire Authority crews responded at 4:38 p.m. to the 1300 block of J Street SE in Auburn. Firefighters contained the fire to the basement and safely evacuated the residents.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.


Flames destroy Auburn garage

South King County firefighters doused flames that engulfed a detached garage in Auburn early today.

Crews from the Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to a home in the 100 block of E Street Southeast just after 2:10 a.m. They found the garage “fully involved,” a press release states.

The flames were spreading to the home and a vehicle. In addition, electrical wires were arching and explosions were heard in the garage, the press release states.

The occupants of the house got out safely. They told firefighters housed six chickens in the garage.

ALL CLEAR: Crash blocks SR 167 near Auburn

A crash is blocking the right lane of northbound state Route 167 and the off-ramp to South 84th Street near Auburn this morning, the state DOT reports.

Troopers, firefighters, paramedics and transportation crews are on the scene.

Drivers are backed up for six miles.

UPDATE: The crash has been cleared to the shoulder, DOT reported at 8:10 a.m. Traffic is backed up 7.5 miles.


Man injured in Auburn motor home fire

A man was taken to Harborview Medical Center late Thursday with serious injuries after he was helped from a burning motor home in Auburn, the Valley Regional Fire Authority reported.

Firefighters responded to the RV lot of the Auburn Eagles Club, 702 M St. S.E., about 11 p.m. A passerby had spotted smoke coming from a motor home and called 911, the authority reported.

When firefighters arrived, the motor home was engulfed in flames. A passerby had removed the man from inside the motor home, the authority reported.

Paramedics took the man to the hospital while firefighters doused the flames.

Man arrested in fatal shooting at Auburn home

Auburn police arrested a suspect in the fatal shooting of a 32-year-old man Thursday afternoon.

Police responded around 3:05 p.m. to a home on the 11000 block of SE 315th Street, according to Sgt. Dave Colglazier. A woman who lived in the house had called 911 to report that her husband had shot her boyfriend in the chest.

The 43-year-old suspect fled in his car before investigators arrived. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

UPDATED: Man arrested in fatal shooting in Auburn

A 46-year-old man was killed early today after a dispute ended in gunfire outside an Auburn grocery store parking lot.

Police officers have arrested a 28-year-old man suspected in the shooting. SWAT officers were setting up at a Kent apartment in the 9800 block of South 248th Street where they believed the suspect was, Auburn police report.

About 9:40 a.m., the suspect walked out and surrendered to officers without incident. He was taken to the Auburn jail.

Fire at vacant Auburn home ruled arson

This just in from the Valley Regional Fire Authority …

Valley Regional Fire Authority Fire Investigators have determined the cause of a fire that occurred in a vacant home at 1027 12th St. NE in Auburn to be arson. The fire was reported by a passerby at 3:32 p.m. on Saturday, March 20. The building and its contents are considered a total loss.


NEW INFORMATION: One killed in early morning crash on SR 167 in Auburn

A 29-year-old Bremerton man was killed early today when his car crashed into the back of a semi-truck parked along the shoulder of southbound State Route 167 in Auburn.

The crash occurred just before 4:30 a.m. just north of 15th Street Northwest, Valley Regional Fire Authority reported.

Kin D. Beliakoff was driving south on SR 167 when his vehicle left the roadway for an unknown reason, the Washington State Patrol reported.

“The vehicle appeared to maintain freeway speeds as it slammed into the right rear portion of the semi trucks trailer,” a State Patrol press release states.
