Deputies: Man, 25, arrested when girlfriend finds him taking baby girl out of freezer

A 25-year-old man was arrested south of Roy Saturday for investigation of attempted murder, after deputies say his girlfriend found him taking their 6-week-old daughter out of a freezer.

Pierce County Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said the 22-year-old mother called 911 about 4:30 p.m. when she found her boyfriend taking the child out of the freezer at their home in the 7600 block of 320th Street South.

Attempt to steal work pants from Fife store foiled when security officers detain knife-wielding suspect, police say

Security officers caught and detained a man who tried to take work pants from a Fife sporting goods store Tuesday without paying for them, despite the man’s attempt to ward them off with a knife, according to Fife police.

Police officers arrived and arrested the man for investigation of first-degree robbery. A second suspect who also entered the store offered $20 for each pair of pants he could steal, the other man told police. The second man fled in a car, Fife police said.

They said they were following leads Wednesday to try to find him.

Police: Man suspected of driving under the influence told Puyallup officers he ‘had nothing to lose’

A man deemed too impaired by a Puyallup officer to safely walk the line for a sobriety test early Tuesday morning told police he “didn’t have anything to lose,” spokesman Scott Engle said.

State Patrol seeks witnesses to Sunday crash on northbound I-5 in Federal Way

The State Patrol is looking for witnesses to a Sunday night crash that happened on northbound Interstate 5 in Federal Way.

A gold Chrysler 300 crashed just before 11 p.m. with a concrete barrier on the freeway and rolled over onto its top near South 272nd Street, according to the State Patrol.

Troopers said there were three people in the vehicle, and that the driver was arrested for investigation of driving under the influence and vehicular assault.

Deputies arrest man suspected of stabbing Spanaway woman in October robbery while dressed as deliveryman

Deputies have arrested a man they say stabbed a Spanaway woman while posing as a deliveryman at her home in October, Pierce County Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said today.

Details about how detectives found and arrested the 40-year-old man Saturday were not immediately available.

Deputies had previously said a man dressed in a brown uniform and carrying a box broke into the 57-year-old woman’s home in the 19600 block of 15th Avenue Court East, stabbed her, tied her up, and took off in her car just before 10 a.m. Oct. 19.

Man who allegedly confessed to killing wife by calling TV station moved from hospital to jail

The estranged husband of a Spanaway woman found dead in a Tacoma motel room early Thursday was moved from the hospital to the Pierce County Jail today, jail records show.

Tony Barrett, 42, was taken to the hospital following his arrest Thursday. He allegedly confessed to killing his wife in a call to a Seattle television station.

His hospital stay was for a medical condition that wasn’t related to the dog bites he suffered while struggling with authorities during his arrest, sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.

Troyer said he couldn’t discuss Barrett’s medical condition, citing federal privacy law.

Semitrailer driver arrested on I-5 in Fife for investigation of DUI, truck was hauling 100,000 pounds of concrete

A semitrailer driver was arrested today for investigation of DUI, after a commuter called 911 about 10 a.m. to report an erratic driver on northbound Interstate 5 at Berkeley Street Southwest, according to the State Patrol.

The man was pulled over shortly after the call on the freeway in Fife, just north of the Port of Tacoma, Trooper Guy Gill said.

Gill said the semi was hauling 100,000 pounds of concrete blocks, and that the driver’s roadside breath test result was more than twice the legal limit, four times the legal limit for commercial drivers, which is .04 percent.

Man accused of trying to kill wife in front of kids turns himself in

A man accused of trying to kill his estranged wife in front of her eight children was arrested Saturday evening and booked into Pierce County Jail after he turned himself in, police said.

Joshua Emanuel Howard, 26, is charged with second-degree attempted murder and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Howard became angry when he was visiting his children July 6, at which point his wife started getting ready to leave the house with the kids, according to charging papers.

He allegedly took out a revolver, said he loved her and “I gotta kill you,” before firing a bullet later
