South Tacoma store robbed at gunpoint, police report

Tacoma police were searching for a man who robbed a South Tacoma convenience store at gunpoint this afternoon.

The robbery occurred shortly before 1:30 p.m. at the Union Corner Grocery, 4501 S. Union Avenue. The suspect was described as a Hispanic man wearing a black jacket and khaki pants.

Investigators were looking into whether the robbery was connected to an incident Monday night on Sixth Avenue.

Man robs Sixth Avenue grocery at gunpoint

Tacoma police were searching for a man who robbed a Sixth Avenue convenience store at gunpoint Monday night.

The robbery was reported just before 6:30 p.m. at the Stop in Grocery, 3908 Sixth Avenue. The man wielded a gun and demanded the clerk empty the cash register, Tacoma police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.

After the robbery, the suspect fled the store. A police dog conducted a track but did not find the man.

Man robs West End convenience store at gunpoint

Tacoma police were searching for a man suspected of robbing a West End convenience store at gunpoint this morning.

The robber walked into the Union 76 food mart at 1822 S. Jackson Ave. about 5:30 a.m., Tacoma police spokesman Mark Fulghum said. He went to the counter, showed a gun and demanded cash and cigarettes.

The clerk handed the robber an undisclosed amount of money and several packs of cigarettes. The robber left on foot, Fulghum said.

Tacoma police officers set up a perimeter and a police dog searched for the suspect. He was not located.

Man charged in two armed robberies at Tacoma sandwich shops

Tacoma police have arrested a 27-year-old man suspected of robbing two sandwich stores while armed with a gun in the past several weeks.

Pierce County prosecutors charged Richard T. Lee with three counts of first-degree robbery on Wednesday. He’s being held in Pierce County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail. Prosecutors have charged Lee with robbing different Subway stores July 11 and Aug. 4.

The first robbery was at the Subway store at 8638 Pacific Ave. An employee told officers that a man entered the store just before 3:30 p.m. July 11, court documents state.

Man robs South End sandwich shop at gunpoint

Tacoma police were searching for a man suspected of robbing a South End sandwich shop at gunpoint this morning.

The robbery was reported at 9:10 a.m. at Subway, 8415 S. Hosmer St., Tacoma police spokesman Mark Fulghum said. The suspect wielded a gun and robbed the shop, then fled.

The robber was described as black, in his 20s and 5 feet 6 to 5 feet 8 with a medium build. He wore a white do-rag and a light gray hooded sweatshirt with the hood over his head, Fulghum said.

UPDATED: Three men rob South End bookstore

Tacoma police were searching for three young men suspected of robbing a South End bookstore this morning.

One of the robbers was reportedly armed with a knife.

The men entered the Park Avenue Bookstore, 8304 S. Park Ave., just before 11:30 a.m. They took money from the cash register and fled out the back door, Tacoma police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.

The owner reported to officers the suspects had been hanging around the bookstore in previous weeks, taking small items, Fulghum said.

A police dog and officers searched for the suspects but were not able to locate them.

Woman robs two Lakewood convenience stores

Lakewood police officers are searching for a woman suspected of robbing two convenience stores this morning while armed with a handgun.

The first robbery occurred about 3:30 a.m. at a store located on Custer Road West near Bridgeport Way Southwest, Lakewood police Lt. Chris Lawler said. The woman walked in, showed what appeared to be a gun to the clerk and robbed the store.

The second incident took place four hours later at a store in the 12100 block of Pacific Highway Southwest. The woman wielded a gun during the robbery.

Tacoma police release images of masked robber who hit 3 times in one night

Tacoma police have released surveillance images of a man suspected of robbing three stores late Thursday while armed with a gun.

Investigators also say the suspect – and another man – could be responsible for as many as 12 robberies in Pierce County in the past month.

The Thursday night robberies began about 9:30 p.m. when the man robbed a clerk at the Chevron station at  3305 S. 56th St. He brandished a gun and took cash from the register, police reported.
