Another alleged victim of Weldon Marc Gilbert has filed a lawsuit against the millionaire Lake Tapps-area pilot accused of sexually assaulting boys. He’s the 20th person – most of whom are alleged victims – to file civil actions against the 49-year-old Gilbert.

The victim, identified in the suit as “R.M.,” filed the complaint Wednesday in Pierce County Superior Court. The complaint alleges R.M. was subjected to sexual assault, abuse and exploitation starting when he was 16 in 2000.

Weldon Marc Gilbert is in court this morning to argue his motion to represent himself against child-sex crimes charges filed in Pierce County Superior Court.

Gilbert, a wealthy Lake Tapps pilot, was sentenced last year to federal prison after he pleaded guilty to more than 30 child-sex crimes. He still faced charges in Pierce County, however.

He filed a motion last month to represent himself in state court.  Read Adam’s story about the motion here.

Federal prosecutors filed the documents Thursday in response to a motion filed by Gilbert’s attorney last week requesting that the federal indictment against Gilbert be dismissed. John Henry Browne is contending that authorities have violated Gilbert’s right to communicate privately with his attorney.

A U.S. Magistrate Judge postponed the detention hearing today for Weldon Marc Gilbert, the wealthy Lake Tapps pilot who’s accused of sexually assaulting two brothers.

The new detention hearing was scheduled for Nov. 28 at 10 a.m.

Gilbert’s defense attorney wanted a postponed to be able to respond to prosecutors, who don’t want Gilbert to be released on bail.

The Wenatchee World has a story online with a few more details of the Chelan County Sheriff’s Department’s investigation of Weldon Marc Gilbert.

Chelan County officials will be in Pierce County again tomorrow to talk with local detectives and prosecutors about the growing case against Gilbert, the weathly Lake Tapps pilot accused of sexually assaulting two boys and videotaping the incidents.

Chelan County sheriff’s folks were in town today to meet with Pierce County sheriff’s officials on Weldon Marc Gilbert.

They mostly compared notes about Gilbert, who’s been charged with sexually assaulting two brothers and is suspected of sexually abusing several more.

No victims have come foward in Chelan County, Adam reported after talking to some of those involved in the talks.

The Lake Tapps pilot, accompanied by Pierce County sheriff’s deputies, is due to arrive this afternoon in Pierce County and be booked into the jail.

I just checked and he’s not there yet.

Story in the Wenatchee World about the investigation of Weldon Marc Gilbert, the Pierce County pilot accused of sexually abusing two boys at his Lake Tapps home and suspected of victimizing at least 20 others.

Gilbert flew his airplane to Chelan County, according to the story. They were looking at whether he’d victimized any boys there.

Meanwhile, Gilbert is supposed to arrive in Pierce County later today. He’s being escorted from Atlanta, where he was arrested last week, by sheriff’s deputies.
