Look out! Shoplift suspect hits two people as he flees scene

King County sheriff’s deputies are searching for a man suspecting of shoplifting and hitting two people with his car as he got away.


"The force the suspect used to get away turned the misdemeanor shoplifting offense into a felony robbery," Sheriff’s Sgt. John Urquhart said.



The incident took place April 4 about 5:20 p.m. at Albertson’s, 20600 108th Ave. S.E., just east of Kent.

Wanted murder suspect spotted in Hoquiam

KING 5 is reporting this morning that Andrew Dahlquist, who’s been charged with murder in the death of a South Hill father, was spotted in the Hoquiam area.


Police were searching the area after he fled from a traffic stop, the television station reported on its web site.


Dahlquist has been charged with second-degree murder, first-degree assault and unlawful possession of a firearm in the May 5, 2006, shooting death of James Nicholas Stewart.

Missing Level 3 sex offender sought


Pierce County sheriff’s detectives were searching Friday for a convicted Level 3 sex offender who has not checked in with authorities in months – a violation of his probation.


William A. Blythe, 29, most recently registered as homeless. When a Level 3 sex offender has no fixed address, he is supposed to check in with the local sheriff’s department every week until he has a home.

Cash store robber strikes again

A man suspected in a string of takeover-style robberies at cash advance stores this month has struck again.


He robbed a Tacoma branch of Advance America Cash Advance Thursday that he’s robbed two times already.


The most recent robbery was Thursday at 1:40 p.m. at the branch at 101 S. 38th St.


Investigators believe the same man is responsible for robberies at Advance America Cash Advance locations:


- Jan. 31 at 5:02 p.m. at the branch at 7307 40th St. W. in University Place.


- Feb. 1 at 5:54 p.m. at the branch at 5700

Convicted sex offender sought on robbery charge

This was posted on the homepage yesterday but didn’t make it onto the blog or into the print edition.


Local law enforcement officers are searching for a Level 3 sex offender accused of stealing a car from a Tacoma car dealership at gunpoint.


A warrant was issued Tuesday for Albert Earl Vanburen Jr.’s arrest after prosecutors charged him with first-degree robbery.



Vanburen, 26, (seen here) is a convicted sex offender and has been classified as a Level 3 offender – those considered most likely to commit new crimes. Prosecutors

Fast food robber identified, warrant issued

A man suspected of robbing several fast-food joints in Pierce and King counties has been identified.


Now, a warrant has been issued for Jack Hannah’s arrest on two counts of first-degree robbery. Pierce County prosecutors filed the charges against the 35-year-old on Tuesday.


Investigators suspect he’s robbed – at gunpoint – least six since fast food restaurants in Tacoma, Puyallup, Lakewood and Federal Way since Dec. 27.


In each case, Hannah (below) entered the restaurant just before closing. He orders food, then shows a handgun and demanded cash from a cashier.

Another Pierce County fugitive caught in Hawaii

Those U.S. marshals in Hawaii are on a roll.


Two days ago, they caught up with an accused Pierce County child molester who was living in a Honolulu homeless shelter.


Now, the U.S. Marshal’s Service in Hawaii sends word that they have found another one of our fugitives.


Thursday, they arrested Filipo Fonoti, a 20-year-old gang member wanted in Pierce County. He’s been charged in a June 17, 2005, attack at McIlvaigh Middle School. The victim was stripped of his clothing, robbed and beaten, the Marshals Service reported in a press release.

Homeless in Honolulu no longer

This just in from the Hawaii branch of the U.S. Marshals Service …


Marshals there have arrested Frank Goodnight, a 47-year-old accused child molester from Pierce County. Goodnight has been charged in Pierce County Superior Court with second-degree child molestation after having sexual contact with a 13-year-old girl March 7, 2006, according to court documents.


A warrant was issued for his arrest after he failed to show up for a hearing in the criminal case. Pierce County sheriff’s deputies contacted the U.S. Marshal’s Office here for some help, the Hawaii office reported.
