3 fatally shot outside Auburn bar Sunday identified

The three men shot and killed outside The Sports Page tavern in Auburn early Sunday morning were identified today by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Antuan Greer, 21, and Lorenzo Duncan, 23, both died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to the office.

Nicholas Lindsay, 26, died of a gunshot wound to the torso.

All three deaths were ruled homicides.

UPDATED: One injured as gang shootout erupts at Parkland McDonald’s

A copy machine is all that stood between a shootout involving teenage gang members and potential tragedy in Parkland on Monday.

One person was injured when rival gang members opened fire at the McDonald’s on the 11000 block of Pacific Avenue shortly after noon, the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department reported. A 15-year-old boy was shot in the hand and is being treated at the hospital, department spokesman Ed Troyer said.

Two stray bullets traveled across the thoroughfare and struck the Titus-Will Chevrolet dealership.

“We’re really lucky … that more random people didn’t get hit,” Troyer said.

UPDATED: One dead in Thurston County shooting

UPDATED at 10:07 a.m.

Thurston County sheriff’s deputies have arrested a man suspected of killing another man in a deadly shooting early today.

The shooting occurred inside a mobile home on Mullen Road Southeast near Meridian Road Southeast after an argument between two men, KIRO TV reports.

The victim was shot in the chest and later died at Providence St. Peter Hospital.

Deputies had identified a suspect in the shooting. The 58-year-old man was arrested this morning in Lewis County.

Tacoma officers identified in fatal shooting of man

Tacoma police have identified the two officers involved in a deadly shooting Friday evening as Shawn Malott and Matthew Verkoelen.

They have been placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard procedure in such cases.

Malott, 33, has been with the department 2½ years while Verkoelen, 27, has been a Tacoma police officer 3½ years.

The officers shot 42-year-old Robert O’Connell after he pulled a handgun and started shooting at them when they tried to talk to him at a gas station.

Man killed in shootout not a violent pedophile, his brother says

The brother of the man killed in a shootout with police in Port Orchard Sunday has told the Salt Lake Tribune that his brother Anthony Martinez is being wrongly characterized as a violent pedophile.

Instead, Barrett Martinez told the newspaper Thursday that his brother was attempting to save a teenage girl from a troubled home life.

It was not the first time his brother helped the girl escape a bad situation, he said.
