School patrols increase in Bonney Lake after more reports of attempted child luring

Bonney Lake police said they are increasing patrols before and after school after more reports came in of a man trying to lure children into his van.

Parents told officers similar tales after hearing about an incident Thursday where a man told a 14-year-old girl walking to the bus stop in the 11000 block of Angeline Road that he was going to get her.

The girl hid behind a tree until a friend’s mother drove by and stopped to help.

Police said the man is white, in his early 40s or 50s with light-colored eyes and light facial hair.

Eatonville Middle School students participate in shooter training

Students and teachers at Eatonville Middle School will today help law enforcement practice what to do if a shooter ever stepped onto campus.

Training over the past year has prepared kids on how to evacuate, what to do if the school goes into lockdown, how to survive a shooter and how to assess threats.

Today’s scenarios will involve an active shooter in the school and another on a school bus. They will occur from 8:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. A SWAT helicopter is overhead during the drill.

Puyallup high schooler arrested for allegedly bringing gun on campus

A junior at Puyallup High School was arrested today for allegedly bringing a gun to school Thursday, police said.

A school resource officer learned today that the boy had been seen with a handgun on campus. During the investigation, the school was placed on lockdown.

Officers found the boy at home and recovered an Airsoft pistol. It is unknown if that is the same weapon he was spotted with at Puyallup High.

The boy was booked into Remann Hall on suspicion of unlawful possession of a weapon on school grounds.

UPDATED: Person who allegedly made threats that locked down two Federal Way schools in custody

UPDATE as of 10:32 a.m.: Police said an 18-year-old man threatened a pedestrian with a gun this morning, prompting lockdowns at three nearby Federal Way schools.

The victim, a 19-year-old man, was walking in the 2600 block of Southwest 327th Street about 9:45 a.m. when a man pulled up in a car, flashed a gun and threatened him.

Police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock said the men don’t know each other and it’s unclear why he threatened the victim.

The victim gave officers the suspect’s license plate number and police tracked him to his home, where he briefly escaped out the back

Man arrested for threats of “blood bath” made against Kentwood High School

A 19-year-old man suspected of sending threats of a “blood bath” at Kentwood High School in Covington last month was arrested over the weekend, according to the King County Sheriff’s Department.

Prosecutors have not yet charged the man, who is said to be a former student.

Detectives searched the man’s Kennewick home Saturday afternoon and seized two computers. It’s unknown what evidence was recovered linking the man to the threats.

“Blood bath” threat made to Kentwood High School; students being dismissed early

Kentwood High School in Covington was dismissed at 10:15 a.m. this morning after receiving an emailed threat of a “hostage take-over and blood bath,” King County sheriff’s spokeswoman Cindi West said.

Several deputies and police dogs are searching the school campus.

West said it looks like a former student hacked into another former student’s email account and sent the threat. Kent police are helping to identify the suspect.

Puyallup junior high on lockdown after person with weapon spotted

Kalles Junior High School in Puyallup was temporarily placed on lockdown this morning after someone reported seeing a person with a weapon near campus, police said.

Officer began searching the surrounding area about 10:30 p.m. but have not found anyone. The lockdown was lifted about 10:40 a.m.

The school is located at 501 7th Avenue Southeast.

Spanaway Lake High student shoves security guard, is hit with taser during struggle

A 17-year-old boy who shoved a campus security guard and wrestled with a Pierce County sheriff’s deputy was struck with a taser and arrested this afternoon, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

The commotion started about 11:15 a.m. at Spanaway Lake High School, 1305 168th Street East.

The teenager was allegedly leaving campus without permission and a security guard confronted him. The teen shoved the security guard to the ground and “started a wrestling match” with the deputy, sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.
