Renton police looking for man, 74, who hasn’t returned to care facility

Renton police are asking for the public’s help in locating a 74-year-old man who has not been seen since leaving a residential care facility Sunday.

Sam Humphrey did not return to the facility, 71 SW Victoria Ave., after leaving about 5 p.m. Sunday.

Police said he is familiar with the city and often walks to downtown businesses.

His family is concerned that something bad may have happened since Humphrey has never failed to return home before. He has suffered strokes in the past.

Renton man missing since Saturday

Renton police are asking for the public’s help in locating a 39-year-old man who has been missing since Saturday.

Dang. H. Nguyen was last seen leaving work in the 300 block of Rainier Avenue North about 3 p.m. He never arrived home.

Nguyen is 5 feet 5 and 125 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue button-up shirt and khaki pants. He could be driving a white Dodge pickup truck with Washington license plate B71118P.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts may call the Renton Police Department at 425-430-7500.


Remains of 154 indigent people to be buried in Renton today

The King County Medical Examiner’s Office will bury the remains of 154 indigent people this afternoon.

A ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 100 Blain Avenue NE, Renton. It will include burial rites, prayers, music and dedication of a plaque.

Officials cremate and bury the remains of those whose families could not be found or who could not afford to properly dispose of their loved one’s remains.


Off-duty Renton officer attacked for intervening in traffic dispute

Renton police say an off-duty officer was assaulted Friday after intervening in a traffic dispute.

Authorities have not identified the 37-year-old officer but said he has been with the department for 10 years. He suffered facial lacerations, several contusions and sore ribs in the attack.

A 33-year-old Seattle man and his 31-year-old wife are expected to be charged Wednesday.

The incident occurred about 1:30 p.m. Friday at the state Route 167 and Interstate 405 interchange.

Kent man arrested in connection with Renton shooting

A 22-year-old Kent man wanted for a shooting in Renton was arrested today after SWAT officers moved in to serve a search warrant at a home where he was hiding.

U.S. Marshals were tipped off that the man, wanted for allegedly shooting at a group of people in the Renton Highlands, was at a nearby home.

Since the man did not respond to officers’ attempts to speak with him, police obtained a search warrant for the house. The man surrendered as SWAT moved in.

He was arrested on suspicion of felony assault and unlawful firearm possession.


Explosive device found near Renton library forces evacuation

Police said a small explosive device left near the library in downtown Renton today forced an evacuation while the device was neutralized.

The suspicious object was found about 12:30 p.m. along Cedar River.

No one was injured and no one has been arrested.

Police and agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are investigating the incident.


Possible Renton abduction ends in head-on crash on I-5

UPDATE as of 10 p.m.

The Washington State Patrol says the three people injured inside a vehicle today on Interstate 5 include a 45-year-old woman, a 47-year-old Federal Way man and a 20-year-old man. Their relationships remain unknown.

The driver was heading north on I-5 while being pursued by Renton police for a possible abduction when he spun around and began driving the wrong way on the freeway.


Renton police said a possible abduction today ended in a pursuit on Interstate 5 and a head-on crash that injured three.

Search under way for 74-year-old man missing in Renton

UPDATE at 3:50 p.m.

The Seattle Police Department has found Eugene Skinner, who went missing from his Renton home Saturday. Officers are taking him home.


Renton Police are seeking the public’s help in finding a 74-year-old man who went missing on Saturday.

Eugene Skinner is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 186 pounds. He has white hair, hazel eyes and a thick, white mustache. Renton police say Skinner suffers from severe dementia.
