Trufant football memorabilia stolen after charity auction

A U-haul truck of football memorabilia and supplies from a charity auction for the Trufant Family Foundation was stolen the morning of May 19 from a hotel parking lot in South Renton, according to Renton police.

The truck was found in the area of Lake Desire, between Renton and Maple Valley, but its cargo from the event the night before was gone.

The “Dress to Impress” fundraising gala was to benefit the foundation started by NFL cornerback Marcus Trufant in 2003, which supports youth programs and aims to help disadvantaged youths “realize their dreams,” according to the foundation’s website.

Renton police seek information on New Year’s Eve shooting

Renton police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the person who shot and critically injured a 27-year-old man New Year’s Eve.

The shooting occurred about 7:45 p.m. in the parking lot of the Summerhill Apartments, 10415 Southeast 174th Street.

Police said the victim called 911 to report he had been shot in the stomach while driving his white 2009 Hyundai Sonata 4DR into the complex from the entrance off 106th Place Southeast.

He is in critical but stable condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Bonney Lake woman, 60, dies after car slams into Renton building

A Bonney Lake woman working at a Renton insurance office was killed Wednesday when a car slammed halfway through the building.

The woman was identified by Renton police as Kaye Hall, 60.

The crash happened shortly before 11 a.m. at the Farmers Insurance office in downtown Renton.

Hall was trapped under the car when it crashed through the office. Firefighters freed her and performed CPR, but she could not be revived.

The driver of the car was an 80-year-old woman who appeared uninjured after the crash. The cause of the crash was not known.

Missing Renton woman with schizophrenia found safe

A Renton woman who had been missing since last week was found safe, Renton police said today.

Krisden Daniels, 41, had last been seen leaving her home in the 12200 block of Southeast Petrovitsky Road last Wednesday.

Police said she had not been taking her prescription consistently or eating regularly, and they considered her endangered.

Renton man killed in King County shooting

A man in his 20s was killed early Sunday morning in the Skyway area of King County.

According to King County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Cindi West, deputies were called around 1:35 a.m. to the 5600 block of South Langston Road for reports of shots fired.

When deputies arrived, they found the victim sitting in a car; he had been shot, West said in a news release. The deputies performed first aid until medics arrived. Efforts to resuscitate the man were unsuccessful.

The victim, who is from Renton, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Renton police searching for missing woman with schizophrenia

Renton police are asking for the public’s help in finding a 41-year-old schizophrenic woman who has been missing since Wednesday.

Krisden Daniels was last seen about 11:45 a.m. Wednesday leaving her home in the 12200 block of SE Petrovitsky Road.

Police said she has not been consistently taking her prescription and has not been eating regularly. They consider her “endangered.”

Daniels does not have a vehicle but is accustomed to taking public transportation.

Renton police: Man falsely reported assault to explain gunshot wound

A Renton man lied to police this morning and said he had been shot by two men to cover up the fact that he accidentally shot himself, police said.

The man reported the assault just before 5 a.m. He told officers that two men had approached him outside a restaurant in the 600 block of Rainier Avenue South, and one man shot him in the leg.

The victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

UPDATED: Renton police looking for missing 82-year-old woman

UPDATE 6:20 p.m.: Gould was found in South Seattle and relatives are taking her home.

 

Renton police are looking for missing 82-year-old Diana Gould.

She left her apartment this morning or early afternoon in the 900 block of Harrington Avenue Northeast, police said.

Her family is worried, because she recently moved to the area and is not familiar with it, police added.

Gould is five-feet, six-inches tall, about 165 pounds, and has short blonde hair, police said.
