For two months in 2010, people who worked at fast food restaurants across Pierce County lived in fear.

Two men were lying in wait at closing time, their car sporting red-and-blue flashing lights like a police vehicle, one of them armed with a gun.

They’d follow the night managers after they’d locked up, pull them over and rob them. In one case, when they victims had no money, one of the men raped a female employee while her fiance

Buckley City Councilman pleads guilty to child rape, will have to register as sex offender

Buckley City Councilman Randy Reed this morning pleaded guilty to first-degree child rape and indecent liberties and was jailed pending sentencing.

Pierce County prosecutors had accused Reed, 55,  of sexually abusing the 7-year-old daughter of a woman he knows.

Reed will be sentenced Oct. 26.

Deputy prosecutor Tim Lewis said Reed qualifies for a special sentencing alternative because he is a first-time offender. As such, Lewis said he would recommend a sentence of 10 years, 11 months to life in prison with all but 12 months of that minimum sentence suspended. Reed would serve that year in the Pierce County
