A 35-year-old woman accused of purposely throwing her 3-month-old daughter to the floor Sunday made statements to arresting deputies about alternate dimensions and Hitler, court records show.

Anna A. Murphy pleaded not guilty Monday to a single count of second-degree child assault during her arraignment in Pierce County Superior Court. Court Commissioner Meagan Foley ordered Murphy jailed in lieu of $150,000 bail and prohibited her from having contact with children should she be released.

The Puyallup Police Department is asking for the public’s help as they investigate an attempted child luring incident that occurred Friday night, June 14, in the 1300 block of East Pioneer in downtown Puyallup.

A 16-year-old boy reported that at about 10 p.m. Friday, a man approached him as he was walking home from the grocery store and asked him to get into his vehicle. The boy refused and began running away from the suspect, who chased the boy on foot. But the boy got away.

Warrant issued for Puyallup man charged with making meth, explosives

A warrant has been issued for a Puyallup man charged with making explosives and methamphetamine after he failed to appear in court.

Pierce County prosecutors charged Roger Elson, 54, with unlawful manufacturing of explosives, unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

He pleaded not guilty in December 2012 and was released on $100,000 bail. The warrant was issued May 30.

Sheriff’s deputies served a warrant at his home in December and found items used to make explosives and meth. They also found 4 grams of meth hidden under the mattress …

Police: Lanes of River Road reopen after crash caused by drunken driver

UPDATE as of 6:53 p.m. All lanes have been cleared, according to police.

INITIAL POST: Puyallup police said a three-car crash caused by a drunken driver has caused minor injuries to others and closed two of three lanes of eastbound River Road.

Traffic is being rerouted to Fourth Street Northwest until the roadway is cleared, and drivers are asked to avoid the area, according to police.

Police said about 6 p.m. that the crash had happened in the 300 block of River Road.

Further details were not immediately available.

Some schools in Puyallup locked down while police search for car thief

UPDATE: Lockdown has been lifted. Man located and arrested on suspicion of multiple crimes, Puyallup police report.

PREVIOUS POST: Puyallup High School and Meeker Elementary School are locked down this morning while police search for a man suspected of driving a stolen car, authorities said.

The man was fleeing Pierce County sheriff’s deputies when he crashed the car, got out and fled on foot near the schools.

There is no immediate threat to the schools, but police asked school officials to lock up the buildings as a precaution.

Puyallup man killed after striking back of semi-truck hauling gasoline

A 46-year-old Puyallup man died Thursday night after striking the back of a semi-truck trailer, losing control of his vehicle and running off the road, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The accident happened about 10:45 p.m. on westbound state Route 512 at milepost 9 in Puyallup.

The man, who was driving a 2011 Ford F150 pickup truck, has been identified as David Rogers. The driver of the semi, a 39-year-old Vancouver man, was not injured. The truck was hauling 11,300 gallons of gasoline, trooper Guy Gill said.

Troopers said alcohol or drugs may have been involved.

Puyallup police: Fire at McDonalds started by man high on meth

A 47-year-old man high on meth started a small fire in a downtown McDonalds restaurant early this morning, according to Puyallup police.

Employees at the fast food restaurant called 911 about 12:20 a.m. to report a man had come inside and touched two wires together, causing sparks that ignited.

When officers arrived, they found the man hiding in a cooler at a nearby convenience store.

He was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of arson, malicious mischief and criminal trespassing.

Three Puyallup police officers and a police dog were injured last week while trying to arrest a suspected car thief.

The incident unfolded the night of May 15 after a car stolen from Seattle was abandoned in a bank parking lot at South Meridian and 14^th Street SW.

Witnesses saw a woman flee the vehicle, which had just been involved in a hit-and-run collision in South Hill.

Puyallup high schooler arrested for allegedly bringing gun on campus

A junior at Puyallup High School was arrested today for allegedly bringing a gun to school Thursday, police said.

A school resource officer learned today that the boy had been seen with a handgun on campus. During the investigation, the school was placed on lockdown.

Officers found the boy at home and recovered an Airsoft pistol. It is unknown if that is the same weapon he was spotted with at Puyallup High.

The boy was booked into Remann Hall on suspicion of unlawful possession of a weapon on school grounds.

Emphasis patrol for drivers on cell phones starts Monday in Pierce County

Drivers on their cell phones have become a top safety concern, prompting an enforcement patrol that will put more law enforcement on Pierce County roads starting Monday.

The emphasis patrol will last until June 2.

During the same enforcement period last year, authorities doled out 1,059 cell phone violations and 3,171 seat belt violations statewide.

Participating agencies include Fircrest, Lakewood, Orting, Puyallup, Sumner and Tacoma police, as well as the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department and the Washington State Patrol.
