Teen charged with assaulting 7-year-old Puyallup girl

UPDATED as of 1:05 p.m.: Prosecutors have charged the boy with first-degree attempted murder, first-degree rape, first-degree child rape and first-degree kidnapping.

He initially told police the girl got a bloody nose in the woods and he left her there, according to charging papers. He later confessed that he asked her to go into the woods with him to look at a bird’s nest.

The boy admitted to strangling the girl until she passed out but denied sexually assaulting her, court records show. He told police he dragged her further into the woods so nobody could hear her.

Teenager ordered held in detention in attack on 7-year-old Puyallup girl

He grabbed her throat and squeezed until she stopped kicking and gasping for air,  he said, “so she couldn’t tell anyone.”

Now a 14-year-old Puyallup boy suspected of dragging a 7-year-old girl into the woods, trying to rape her then choking her unconscious is in Pierce County’s Remann Hall juvenile detention center, facing a possible attempted murder charge, among others.

Court Commissioner Craig Adams on Friday ordered the boy detained until Tuesday when prosecutors intend to formally charge him. Charges under consideration include attempted second-degree murder, first-degree child rape and first-degree kidnapping with sexual motivation, court records show.

UPDATED: Puyallup man suspected of groping woman held on $1 million bail

A man loitering behind a Puyallup store Tuesday night mockingly warned a woman she could be raped for being out so late before pushing her toward a fence and groping her, Pierce County prosecutors said.

Sean Bagley, 32, pleaded not guilty this afternoon to second-degree attempted rape and indecent liberties with forcible compulsions. He was ordered jailed in lieu of $1 million bail.

Puyallup girl, 7, sexually assaulted; teen arrested

A 7-year-old girl playing outside a Puyallup apartment complex Wednesday night was lured into nearby woods where she was choked and sexually assaulted, police said.

The girl had to be carried out of the woods once a bloodhound led officers to her but she was able to identify her attacker. Police arrested a 14-year-old neighbor boy.

“We’re blessed that she was found safe,” Police Chief Bryan Jeter said. “She’s a very brave, strong lady and we wish her the best in her recovery.”

The girl was taken to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in serious condition but is expected to survive.

Puyallup police looking for man who tried to sexually assault woman on sidewalk

UPDATE: Acting on tips provided by the public, Puyallup police arrested a 32-year-old man Wednesday evening in connection with this case. The man, who lives in Puyallup, will be booked into the Pierce County Jail for on suspicion of attempted sexual assault, Puyallup police tweeted.

Puyallup man who allegedly hoarded fireworks charged with six felonies

A 48-year-old Puyallup man has been charged with hoarding so many illegal fireworks authorities said it would take a month to inventory them all.

Pierce County prosecutors Tuesday charged Don Albert Murphy with six counts of unlawful manufacture, sale or offer to sell illegal explosives. Murphy pleaded not guilty in Superior Court, where Commissioner Meagan Foley ordered him jailed in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Murphy was arrested Thursday following an investigation by Puyallup Tribal Police, the Puyallup Police Department, the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Woman accused of throwing infant to floor made bizarre statements to deputies

A 35-year-old woman accused of purposely throwing her 3-month-old daughter to the floor Sunday made statements to arresting deputies about alternate dimensions and Hitler, court records show.

Anna A. Murphy pleaded not guilty Monday to a single count of second-degree child assault during her arraignment in Pierce County Superior Court. Court Commissioner Meagan Foley ordered Murphy jailed in lieu of $150,000 bail and prohibited her from having contact with children should she be released.

Puyallup police seek public help in child luring case

The Puyallup Police Department is asking for the public’s help as they investigate an attempted child luring incident that occurred Friday night, June 14, in the 1300 block of East Pioneer in downtown Puyallup.

A 16-year-old boy reported that at about 10 p.m. Friday, a man approached him as he was walking home from the grocery store and asked him to get into his vehicle. The boy refused and began running away from the suspect, who chased the boy on foot. But the boy got away.
