Woman allegedly killed by husband at Tacoma motel said ‘He will never let me go’

UPDATE as of 4:08 p.m. At this point, deputies believe Sara Barrett was killed in the motel room, but do not yet know if she was injured before that, Pierce County Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said. The cause of her death has yet to be determined, he said.

High-speed pursuit in Puyallup ends in arrest of underwear-only clad woman

Not every police pursuit ends with an underwear-only clad woman standing at the edge of a swamp, but this one did.

It all started Feb. 23 when a 24-year-old woman knocked on her ex-boyfriend’s front door in the 15200 block of 105th Avenue East in Puyallup. He peeked outside then called the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department because he had two no-contact orders barring the woman from coming near him.

The next thing he knew, she was driving off in his new BMW. Apparently she still had the code to open his garage.

Man charged with eluding officer flees courthouse as verdict is read, deputies say

A man charged with trying to elude police did so again as his verdict was read at the courthouse in downtown Tacoma Wednesday, deputies said.

Leroy Phillip Scott, out on $10,000 bail at the time, complied with officials by showing up for court.

Not so much when he struggled with an officer who tried to detain him and ran out of the courthouse once his verdict was read, Pierce County Sheriff’s Sgt. Jerry Bates said.

No one was injured in the scuffle.

Man thrown from car after Auburn police chase on I-5 dies of injuries

A 45-year-old man who was riding in a vehicle fleeing Auburn police on Interstate 5 earlier this month has died from injuries suffered in the accident, according to the Washington State Patrol.

He was identified as Victor Wilson.

The pursuit started just before midnight Feb. 4 when Auburn police began chasing a stolen 1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo down southbound I-5 from just south of the Federal Way scales to just south of Port of Tacoma Road, where the 22-year-old driver lost control.

UPDATE: Spanaway man suspected of robbing four Walgreens pharmacies

UPDATE as of 3:34 p.m. Scott Barnes pleaded not guilty today to three counts of first-degree robbery, and was held pending $500,000 bail.

Prosecutors said the man admitted to three Pierce County robberies and an uncharged robbery in King County.

 

INITIAL POST: A 28-year-old Spanaway man arrested Wednesday on suspicion of robbing a Walgreens pharmacy in the South Hill area is suspected in three other recent armed robberies, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.

State Patrol seeks witnesses to police pursuit, crash on I-5 in Fife

The Washington State Patrol is looking for anyone who may have witnessed a police pursuit that ended in a crash on Interstate 5 near Port of Tacoma Road late Monday.

Auburn police chased a stolen Chevrolet Monte Carlo in the southbound lanes of I-5 from just south of the Federal Way scales until the driver lost control just south of Port of Tacoma Road.

The driver swerved, crossed all lanes and went into the median, where he hit the cable barrier, the WSP reported. Both he and his passenger were not wearing seat belts and were ejected from the car.

Two men injured in rollover crash in Fife while running from Auburn police

Two men trying to flee Auburn police late Monday were injured after crashing a stolen vehicle in Fife.

The pursuit started about 11:45 p.m. when Auburn officers got report of a 1978 Chevrolet Monte Carlo being stolen. After seeing it driving on Highway 18, police chased it down southbound Interstate 5 until the driver lost control and crashed into a cable barrier near the Port of Tacoma Road exit, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The Monte Carlo rolled several times, throwing the 22-year-old driver and 45-year-old passenger from the vehicle. Both men were taken to area hospitals. Their conditions

Pursuit ends in Fife when police dog takes down man driving stolen car

Tacoma police said a 24-year-old man driving a stolen car led officers on a pursuit that ended in Fife Tuesday night after a police dog caught up to him as he tried to flee on foot.

A patrol officer spotted the stolen car in the 3800 block of Pacific Avenue and attempted to pull the driver over. The driver sped up, leading police down state Route 7 and Interstate 5 before getting off the freeway in Fife.
