State Patrol looking for witnesses to fatal Enumclaw crash Halloween night

The State Patrol is looking for witnesses to a fatal car-pedestrian crash that happened Halloween night in Enumclaw on westbound state Route 410.

Justin Relethford, 16 of Enumclaw, died after he was hit by a pickup about 8 p.m. near milepost 23 as he was walking on the right shoulder, according to the State Patrol.

A 16-year-old Enumclaw girl who was walking with Relethford did not report any injuries.

The 20-year-old from Buckley who was driving the pickup is being investigated for vehicular homicide, the State Patrol said.

2 southbound I-5 lanes near Federal Way to close at 6 to remove double-tanker truck involved in fatal crash

The two right lanes of southbound Interstate 5 in Federal Way will close for one to two hours starting at 6 p.m., as crews remove a double-tanker truck involved in a fatal crash overnight just south of South 320th Street.

The state Department of Transportation said that the truck loaded with gasoline crashed, caught fire and punctured a freeway sound wall at 2 a.m. Sunday.

The driver of the truck, identified by the Washington State Patrol as 68-year-old Joseph Bartkowski of Sumner, died at the scene.

Police arrest 18 teens at Bonney Lake party they say were drinking underage

Police Saturday arrested 18 teenagers they say were drinking at a party near Bonney Lake, at a house containing nothing but alcohol and a beer pong table.

A neighbor called 911 to report noise and youths, mostly 17- and 18-year-olds from Fife, arriving at the Inlet Island house.

The owner of the house had moved and left her 19-year-old son to stay at the home, according to Pierce County officials. He was arrested and charged with providing his residence for illegal drinking, as well as being a minor in possession of alcohol, authorities said.

Federal Way police looking for man they say almost shot infant

Federal Way police are looking for a man they say fired a handgun at his girlfriend’s apartment earlier this month, almost hitting a 1-year-old child.

Dvontaveous Hoston fired the gun Oct. 15 during an argument with another resident of the apartment, police say.

The gun, described as a “rusty chrome .38 caliber,” was not recovered.

A felony warrant for reckless endangerment and first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm was issued for Hoston’s arrest, police say.

Police consider Hoston armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about his whereabouts should not contact him, and instead should call 911, according to police.

UPDATED: Construction worker injured in Auburn fire

UPDATE: The fire was an accident, probably caused by flammable vapors coming into contact with an energized electrical appliance, according to the Valley Regional Fire Authority. The estimated damage is $50,000.

INITIAL POST: Fire crews responded at 7:44 p.m. to a report of a duplex fire in the 1000 block of 43 Court Northeast, according to the Valley Regional Fire Authority.

They arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from one unit.

The house was under construction and residents of the other unit evacuated safely.

A 33-year-old construction worker was treated for minor burns.

Man fatally shot by SWAT outside Sumner residence

UPDATE as of 7:18 p.m. The officer is with the Milton Police Department and has been put on paid administrative leave while the shooting is investigated, per department procedure, Palmer said. The weapon appeared to be a firearm, she said. Milton police officials said they will not be releasing information about the officer tonight.

Police say man tried to rob Puyallup business with fake gun through bullet-proof glass

A man who this morning tried to rob a Puyallup business through bullet-proof glass while using a fake gun was not successful, according to Puyallup police.

The South Hill resident, 35, allegedly demanded money from the female clerk of the business just before 10:30 a.m. in the 4100 block of South Meridian.

She refused from behind the safety glass, and he fled on a bicycle, police said.

No one was injured.

Police said they found the suspect nearby, and that he was identified by the clerk and booked into Pierce County Jail for investigation of attempted robbery.
