Man, 46, in critical condition after motorcycle crash near Frederickson

A man is in critical condition after his motorcycle crashed about 5 p.m. in the 7500 block of 176th Street East, and deputies are looking for witnesses to the wreck.

No other vehicles involved in the crash were found at the scene, on the border of Frederickson, Pierce County Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said, but skid marks indicate the man was stopping abruptly at the time of the wreck.

The man was taken to Tacoma General Hospital. He did not have any passengers on the bike.

Deputies ask anyone who may have information about the crash to contact authorities.

UPDATE: The patient is a 46-year-old male, according to Tacoma police. He was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center and his injuries remained life-threatening Thursday night, spokesman Mark Fulghum said.

INITIAL POST: A motorcyclist is in critical condition tonight after a crash with a vehicle at South 96th Street and Pacific Avenue South, according to Tacoma Fire.

Medics from Central Pierce Fire & Rescue and Tacoma Fire were dispatched to the scene at 7:42 p.m.

The patient was taken to a local hospital.

Motorcycle hits car in Spanaway, driver seriously injured

A 49-year-old woman riding a motorcycle in Spanaway was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center with life-threatening injuries this evening, according to Central Pierce Fire & Rescue and the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.

The woman was riding east about 6 :30 p.m. on 176th Street East near Pacific Avenue South, when a vehicle turned in front of her into a shopping center and she hit its side, assistant chief Randy Stephens said.

The woman’s helmet came off during the crash, Pierce County Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.

The crash is still being investigated, he said.

Kent motorcyclist killed in crash identified

A Kent motorcyclist killed Monday after colliding with a van has been identified as 32-year-old Richard V. Eastwood.

The accident occurred about 10:15 p.m. in the 8400 block of South 212^th Street.

Police said a 44-year-old man driving a van was traveling west on 212^th and made a left turn into the path of Eastwood’s motorcycle.

Eastwood struck the front of the van and was ejected from his bike. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kent motorcyclist, 33, dies in collision with van Monday night

A motorcycle-van collision in Kent was fatal Monday night, according to Kent Police and Fire.

Crews were called to the 8400 block of South 212th Street at 10:15 p.m., where 33-year-old man riding a motorcycle collided with a van and was ejected from his bike.

The Kent man, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash happened when the 44-year-old man driving the van, also from Kent, was driving west on 212th and started turning left, police said.

Vigil tonight to honor senior airman who died in Gig Harbor motorcycle crash

A vigil is scheduled tonight to honor Ty Barnes, 23, who died in a motorcycle crash Monday.

Barnes was a senior airman at Joint Base Lewis-McChord with the 22nd Special Tactics Squadron.

He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash in the 5000 block of Reid Drive Northwest, where the vigil is scheduled for 9 p.m. tonight.

Barnes joined the Air Force in March of 2008, and was assigned to JBLM in April 2012.

Ryan Peart, who lives near where the accident happened, said family and friends have been leaving flowers and flags as a memorial at the site. …

JBLM man dies in Gig Harbor motorcycle crash

A Joint Base Lewis-McChord man died Monday night when his motorcycle crashed in his hometown of Gig Harbor.

Ty Barnes, 23, left the roadway on a right hand curve and hit a large rock, flipping the motorcycle in the 5000 block of Reid Drive Northwest, Pierce County Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.

Crews responded at 11:20 p.m. and pronounced Barnes dead at the scene.

He was wearing a helmet, but did not have a motorcycle endorsement, Troyer said.

Barnes joined the Air Force in March of 2008, and was assigned to JBLM in April 2012, according to Air Force spokeswoman Dawn Hart.He …

Motorcyclist airlifted in serious condition after Thurston County collision

Officials were called about 8 p.m. to a motorcycle accident at Offut Lake Road Southeast and Marshall Road Southeast.

A man was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition after the accident, said Washington State Patrol Trooper Guy Gill.

Gill said it’s possible a DUI was involved.

Further details about the accident were not immediately available Monday night.

Motorcyclist dies in head-on collision with car on Marine View Drive Sunday

A motorcyclist died Sunday after he crossed the center line of Marine View Drive and hit a Nissan Maxima head-on, Tacoma police said.

John Bennett, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene. He lived in Seattle.

Police responded to the accident around noon in the 1600 block of Marine View Drive. Traffic was blocked for several hours, police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.

The driver said she had wrist soreness, but was otherwise uninjured.

Nothing at the scene indicated that drugs or alcohol were involved, Fulghum said.

UPDATED: Tacoma officer injured in motorcycle crash

UPDATED as of 2:40 p.m.

A Tacoma police officer was injured this afternoon when his motorcycle was clipped by a car on South 38th Street.

The 51-year-old officer’s injuries were not considered life threatening. He was conscious and talking at the scene, Tacoma police spokesman Mark Fulghum said. The officer, a 22-year veteran of the Tacoma force, has been transported to a local hospital for treatment of foot and leg injuries.

Officers have South 38th Street from South Pine to South Fife streets blocked off for their investigation, Fulghum said.
