Suspected human bones found near Harts Lake

The Pierce County Medical Examiner has been called to a wooded area near Harts Lake this morning to help identify whether bones found there Thursday night are human.

“They look to be human,” Pierce County Sheriff spokesman Detective Ed Troyer said of the bones this morning. “When we got  out there last night,  it was too dark. We secured the area.”

Troyer said they are treating the site as a crime scene until they know differently.

Water advisory ends for McKenna subdivision

Residents of the Whitewater Estates subdivision in McKenna no longer have to boil their tap water,  the McKenna Water District said today.

Lab tests show the water meets safe drinking water standards.
The McKenna Water District, working with the state Department of Health, issued a boil-water advisory on Monday after a water line broke and the subdivision lost water pressure. When water pressure is lost, bacteria and other contaminants could enter the water system.
The broken line has been repaired, and water district staff disinfected and flushed the water lines. Water samples taken from throughout the subdivision’s distribution
