Man fatally shot in Kent driveway this morning

Kent police are investigating an early morning shooting that killed a 32-year-old man in a driveway in the 21000 block of 131st Avenue Southeast.

The shooting occurred about 4:55 a.m.

It was not immediately known what led up to the shooting. Neighbors reported hearing a fight shortly before shots rang out. Police are looking for the shooter.

Car-van crash injures 9 in Kent, closes South 277th Street at South Star Lake Road

Emergency crews are at the scene of a car-van crash  at South 277th Street and South Star Lake Road.

The crash about 5:45 p.m. sent 9 people to the hospital, one of whom is in serious condition, according to Kent Fire. The eight others were taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life threatening, Capt. Kyle Ohashi said. One of those eight is an infant, he said.

Eight displaced in Kent mobile home fire

Eight people safely escaped a mobile home fire in Kent this morning, according to Kent Fire Capt. Kyle Ohashi.

The blaze broke out shortly before 8 a.m. in the 24400 block of 64th Avenue South.

Three adults and five children were inside but got out before crews arrived. No injuries were reported.

Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire.

Kent police searching for man who exposed himself to 6-year-old girl

Kent police are searching for a man who exposed himself to a 6-year-old girl at a business Sunday.

The incident occurred about 1:30 p.m. at the Dollar Tree, 23406 Pacific Highway South.

Officers searched the area for the suspect but did not locate him. Surveillance cameras captured the man, who is described as white, 18 to 25 years old, 5-feet-7 to 5-feet-11 with dark hair and a medium build.

UPDATED: NBA player arrested in Kent to appear in court this afternoon

UPDATE: Bail for Williams was set at $25,000, according to King County prosecutors.

INITIAL POST: An NBA basketball player arrested Sunday in Kent for allegedly threatening his son’s mother with a gun will make his first court appearance this afternoon.

Terrence Williams, 25, a former Rainier Beach High School star who most recently played for the Boston Celtics, will appear in court at 2:30 p.m. to have bail set.

Officers took him into custody about 2 p.m. Sunday after a woman called to report he made threats and brandished a gun after an argument between the two escalated while handing off custody

Kent police arrest NBA player suspected of threatening woman with gun

Kent officers arrested a professional basketball player who is suspected of brandishing a firearm and making threats at the mother of his child late Sunday afternoon.

According to Kent police:

Officers met with the woman about 2 p.m., who told investigators the father of her 10-year-old son arrived at her home in downtown Kent for a scheduled exchange of their son. She said an argument started in the parking lot, and that the man made threats and brandished a gun.

The suspect, identified as a player in the NBA, was later found and arrested.

The case is still being investigated.

Kent man arrested for allegedly trading child porn

A 63-year-old man suspected of trading sexually explicit materials of underage children was arrested at his Kent home Thursday, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Authorities received a tip in January that the man was trading photographs and videos of young girls from 6 to 17-years-old.

The State Patrol’s Missing and Exploited Children’s Task Force found the images online and tracked them to the man’s computer on 46th Avenue South in Kent.

They served a search warrant Thursday and seized multiple child pornographic images.

The man has not yet been charged.

Fire severely damages Kent home

A fire heavily damaged a home on Kent’s West Hill early this morning, according to the Fire Department.

A neighbor called 911 about 2:30 a.m. to report seeing smoke and flames coming from the house in the 23900 block of 43rd Avenue South.

Nobody was home at the time. The owners recently sold their house and were in the process of moving out, Deputy Fire Marshal Don Barberie said.

Crews from SeaTac and South King County Fire & Rescue helped attack the flames, which severely damaged the attic and roof.

No injuries were reported and a cause has not yet
