Spanaway man arrested for hit-and-run collision with bicyclist

A 54-year-old Spanaway man was arrested Thursday night for hitting a bicyclist with his truck and fleeing the scene, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The accident happened about 10:10 p.m. on state Route 7 near 52nd Avenue East.

Troopers said a man driving a 1998 Dodge Ram pickup truck was heading north on SR 7 when he struck the 43-year-old bicyclist, who was heading in the same direction.

The driver was found later at a nearby home and arrested.

Citizens grab teenager trying to flee hit-and-run in Summit area

A 17-year-old boy fleeing his home after a domestic violence incident plowed into another vehicle and tried to run from the scene but bystanders held him until Pierce County sheriff’s deputies arrived.

The incident took place about 12:15 p.m. at 112th Street East and Canyon Road East in the Summit area.

“He tried to run from the scene but citizens grabbed him and caught him,” department spokesman Ed Troyer said.

The teenager is in custody. Deputies are still trying to determine what led up to the crash.

Kent girl on bicycle seriously injured in hit-and-run accident

A 12-year-old girl was seriously injured this morning after a hit-and-run driver struck the girl on her bicycle. Kent police said they are interviewing the woman they believe was behind the wheel.

The accident happened about 7:45 a.m. in the 900 block of North Central Avenue. Firefighters were called to the scene and found the girl lying in the street with head and torso injuries.

The driver, a 58-year-old Kent woman, fled the scene. The girl, who attends Mill Creek Middle School, was taken to a hospital.

Trooper charged with felony hit-and-run, eluding police vehicle

A state trooper pleaded not guilty this afternoon to charges that he failed to remain at the scene of an injury accident and then attempted to elude authorities.

David Lambert Bertholf, 48, was off-duty Sunday when he allegedly hit a vehicle and fled as traffic slowed on eastbound state Route 16 near Union Ave, State Patrol spokesman Cpt. Rob Huss said.

Bertholf has been with the State Patrol for 20 years, and is currently a K-9 handler trooper assigned to the homeland security division out of the Bainbridge area, Huss said.

Witnesses called in the accident about 2:40 p.m. Sunday.

Hit-and-run driver who injured Tacoma child is sought

Tacoma police are searching for the driver who hit a 12-year-old boy while he was walking to school last week and fled the scene.

The hit-and-run accident occurred about 7:30 a.m. Friday in the 5100 block of Portland Avenue.

The boy was crossing the street when he was struck by a car. The boy, who suffered minor injuries, was able to walk to the sidewalk, but the driver fled the scene.

The vehicle was a black or dark-colored Honda or Mitsubishi with an Asian man in his 20s behind the wheel.

Federal Way boy, 14, injured by hit-and-run driver

A 14-year-old boy was struck and injured by a hit-and-run driver Monday in Federal Way.

The boy was riding his skateboard about 5:30 p.m. in the 300 block of S 304th Place when the vehicle careened around a corner and hit the boy.

“He landed on the hood and then they stopped and it threw him quite a distance,” said the boy’s mom, Teri Hyatt-Oushani. “Then they peeled out. They just hit him and left.”

She said her son curled into a ball the instant he was hit, so he did not see the vehicle or the driver.

Man killed in alleged hit-and-run in Bonney Lake

A 47-year-old man died this evening after being hit by a truck while walking in the 10100 block of 214th Avenue East, where officials were called about 5:30 p.m. according to the Bonney Lake Police Department.

The man was walking northbound on the shoulder of the road, just off State Route 410 East, when he was hit by the truck and rolled up onto its windshield and hood, police spokesman Todd Green said.

He was carried for a few hundred feet before he fell to the ground.

Man to be arraigned today for hit-and-run accident in Gig Harbor

A Fox Island man will be arraigned this afternoon on charges that he struck a Gig Harbor woman on a bicycle and fled the scene.

Gregory McCormak Andrews is set to enter a plea for vehicular assault and failure to remain at the scene of an injury accident.

Pierce County prosecutors contend he hit the bicyclist July 12 near 42nd Street Court Northwest and Ray Nash Drive Northwest in Gig Harbor.
