Vehicle recovered from hit-and-run that seriously injured Puyallup teen

Puyallup police have recovered the vehicle used to run down a 15-year-old Puyallup girl nearly two months ago but have not made an arrest.

Anonymous tips led detectives to Yelm, where they found a white 1997 Chevrolet Suburban they believe hit Chloe Williams March 14 as she used a crosswalk in the 600 block of West Stewart Avenue NW.

The teenager suffered multiple serious injuries after the hit-and-run, including a broken femur.

Detectives took custody of the Suburban April 23 and served a search warrant on it Tuesday. Capt. Scott Engle said evidence has been recovered but declined to discuss

Tacoma police seek witnesses to hit-and-run accident that seriously injured pedestrian

Tacoma police are looking for witnesses to a hit-and-run collision that seriously injured a 22-year-old man.

The accident occurred about 11:45 p.m. April 23 on South 56th Street just east of South Fawcett Avenue.

Police said the man, who may have been intoxicated, was trying to cross the street when an unknown vehicle struck him and sped off. Bystanders called for help for the man, who suffered multiple broken bones.

Anyone who witnessed the hit-and-run collision is asked to call Tacoma police Detective Jeff Turner at 253-591-5986.


Police: Man okay after driving down Yakima Avenue embankment onto I-5 while fleeing police following hit-and-run


A man drove off Yakima Avenue, down an embankment and landed on Interstate 5 just before 4 p.m. while trying to avoid officers after a hit-and-run accident, Tacoma police spokeswoman Loretta Cool and the Washington State Patrol said.

He is in custody and is being taken to St. Joseph Hospital for a checkup, but doesn’t appear to be injured, Cool said.

No one  was injured in the crash or the hit-and-run, which happened in an intersection in the 1200 block of South Altheimer Street, Cool said.

Puyallup teen injured by hit-and-run driver is recovering, hoping for arrest

Despite being struck by a hit-and-run driver and confined to a hospital bed, 15-year-old Chloe Williams feels blessed.

Loved ones have filled her room at Tacoma General Hospital with flowers, balloons and plush stuffed animals. She’s a long way from being healed but she was able to stand up this week. She’s feeling a bit better day by day.

What she really wants though is to know why. Why did someone run her over as she walked in a crosswalk in downtown Puyallup March 14? Why did they leave her crumpled on the pavement, alone in the rain?

Man inquiring about surveillance video not suspect in hit-and-run of Puyallup teen

A man who asked to see surveillance footage of a hit-and-run accident that seriously injured a teenage girl is not a suspect, Puyallup police said today.

Police released the man’s photograph Tuesday in an attempt to identify him, believing he may have information about the March 16 crash that injured a 16-year-old girl as she walked in a marked crosswalk in the 600 block of West Stewart Avenue.

UPDATE: Puyallup police seek man who asked to see footage from hit-and-run that seriously injured teen girl

UPDATE as of 7:19 p.m. The man called police about 4 p.m. this afternoon after a friend told him officers were looking for him, and he then came to the department to speak with investigators, police Capt. Scott Engle said.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing, Engle said.

He said police are not saying at this time whether the man is a suspect.

Teen girl struck in hit-and-run accident in Puyallup expected to survive

A 16-year-old girl struck by a vehicle Thursday night in a hit-and-run collision is in serious condition but expected to survive, Puyallup police Capt. Scott Engle said.

No one witnessed the crash, which occurred about 7:30 p.m. in the 600 block of West Stewart Avenue NW, but surveillance footage from a nearby grocery store shows a large white SUV fleeing eastbound on West Stewart Avenue. It could be a General Motors vehicle, police said.

The vehicle likely has damage to the right front of the SUV and possibly a dent in the hood.

Teen girl seriously injured in hit-and-run crash in Puyallup, according to police

A teen girl was seriously injured tonight in a hit-and-run crash in Puyallup, according to police.

The girl was crossing the road about 7:30 p.m. in the 600 block of West Stewart Street, when she was hit by a vehicle traveling east on West Stewart that then fled, according to Puyallup police spokesman Capt. Scott Engle.

The girl appears to have been walking in the cross walk, heading south across West Stewart Street, Engle said.
