Man pleads not guilty after allegedly driving headlong into Pierce County patrol car, swinging at sheriff’s deputy after chase

A man accused of driving into a patrol car and then taking swings at a Pierce County sheriff’s deputy pleaded not guilty Monday.

The 46-year-old Tacoma man was charged with second- and third-degree assault and trying to elude police. He was held pending $500,000 bail.

According to court records, the man was driving a stolen vehicle and making random turns about 3:15 a.m. July 12 near 96th Street East and 48th Avenue East in Summit when deputies tried to pull him over.

Motorcyclist crashes in University Place while fleeing deputies

A 22-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured late Sunday after crashing into a rock wall and power pole while fleeing Pierce County sheriff’s deputies in University Place.

Deputies first noticed five motorcyclists speeding on Bridgeport Way around 11 p.m. The group stopped for a red light at Bridgeport and 67th Avenue West and deputies saw one of the motorcyclists motion to his buddies to block deputies in while he sped away.

UPDATED: Suspect who tried to run down deputy in Gig Harbor arrested in Tacoma

UPDATE as of 11:47 a.m.: One of the bullets fired by a deputy at the suspect stuck in his sweatshirt, sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.

No one was injured in the incident.

UPDATE as of 11:11 a.m.: The suspect jumped from his truck at South 54th and South M streets in Tacoma, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

The suspect was arrested at South 54th Street and South Sheridan Avenue.

Auburn man pleads not guilty in police chase, fatal crash

A 22-year-old Auburn man has pleaded not guilty to charges he caused a car wreck that killed his passenger in February.

Brian Sicade was charged last month with second-degree murder, vehicular homicide, unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle, attempting to elude police and third-degree driving with a suspended license.

Sicade was arraigned Monday in Pierce County Superior Court.

State troopers believe Sicade was at the wheel of a stolen Chevrolet Monte Carlo that crashed Feb. 4 as the driver fled police on Interstate 5 near the Port of Tacoma Road. His passenger, 45-year-old Victor Wilson, died.

Suspected burglar allegedly rams Pierce County sheriff’s patrol cars during pursuit near Eatonville

An 18-year-old Eatonville man recently released from prison has found himself behind bars again after allegedly ramming a Pierce County sheriff patrol car during a high-speed pursuit.

Hobert Clark pleaded not guilty today to two counts of second-degree assault, felony eluding of a police vehicle, reckless endangerment and driving on a suspended license. Commissioner Meagan Foley ordered him held in lieu of $100,000.

Pair of alleged robbers arrested after pursuit in Tacoma

Two men are in jail tonight after allegedly robbing a Tacoma real estate business and leading police on a short pursuit.

The robbery occurred about 6:30 p.m. at a business near South 38th Street and South Yakima Avenue. During the holdup, police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said the gunman snatched an employee’s purse and stole her car from the parking lot.

A second man jumped into the car as they sped away.

Officers quickly located the stolen vehicle and gave chase to South 56th Street and South Yakima Avenue before the alleged robbers struck several parked cars near 38th and Fawcett

Woman allegedly killed by husband at Tacoma motel said ‘He will never let me go’

UPDATE as of 4:08 p.m. At this point, deputies believe Sara Barrett was killed in the motel room, but do not yet know if she was injured before that, Pierce County Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said. The cause of her death has yet to be determined, he said.

Tacoma man pleads not guilty to high-speed pursuit

The sound of a Taser gun being shot behind him stopped the 24-year-old Tacoma man cold.

Although the prongs of the Taser didn’t hit Ryan Young, the sound ended a pursuit that started when Young allegedly sped past two Pierce County sheriff’s deputies, ran several red lights and took off running when he crashed his car.

Young pleaded not guilty to attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle, driving on a suspended license, obstructing a public servant and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

His bail was set at $75,000.
