Fife police arrest man suspected of tagging at least 22 locations

They repeatedly tagged the scoreboard and baseball dugouts at Fife High School, the city pool, Chamber of Commerce and various businesses.

After three months of trying to identify the taggers, police on Monday arrested an 18-year-old man and 14-year-old boy believed to have spray painted graffiti at 22 locations since early November.

“It cost thousands of dollars in damage at least,” Lt. Tom Thompson said.

The case was forwarded to the City Attorney’s Office, which has charged the man with 21 counts of third-degree malicious mischief. Another charge is expected after a business owner came forward this week to report

Police make arrest in Kent East Hill ‘tagging’ spree

Kent Police have arrested a 20-year-old Kent man in connection with more than 30 “taggings” on homes, businesses, apartment complexes, and other structures on Kent East Hill area.

Police first started to see the tag “YAPT” appear on public and private properties in August 2010,  Kent police Lt. Pat Lowery said today. Police noted several variations to the tag, but  determined that one person was responsible for the tagging.

In October, the suspect was contacted by Kent officers following a vandalism incident at a local shopping center. He was later released due to a lack of evidence.
