1 killed, 2 injured in overnight crash on state Route 162

One man died and two others were injured early Sunday in a one-vehicle crash on state Route 162 near Orting.

The three men were in a 2006 Chevrolet pickup heading eastbound on SR162 around 1:30 a.m. According to the Washington State Patrol, the truck swerved into the westbound lanes near Voights Creek (milepost 11) and struck a power pole. The vehicle ended up in a ditch.

Brandon R. Duprie, a 21-year-old from Enumclaw, was a passenger in the truck and died in the crash.

Enumclaw crash leaves woman hanging for hours

A young Kirkland woman is in serious condition at Harborview Medical Center this morning after an Enumclaw car crash that left her hanging upside down in her seat belt for five and a half hours.

The driver, a 25-year-old Bonney Lake man, was ejected from the car and is also at Harborview, in critical condition.

According to Washington State Patrol officer Cliff Pratt, the crash occurred at approximately 1:45 Saturday morning, but the destroyed vehicle was not discovered until 7:10 a.m.

Enumclaw woman injured in early morning crash

A 42-year-old Enumclaw woman was injured early this morning after falling asleep behind the wheel and striking a power pole, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The accident occurred about 2:30 a.m. on westbound state Route 164 near Southeast 400th Street.

The woman, who was driving a 1990 Nissan Pathfinder, was taken to Auburn Valley Medical Center for treatment.

Enumclaw residents charged with car prowls at Mount Rainier National Park

Two Enumclaw residents have been charged with theft of government property, theft of personal property and malicious mischief in connection with a string of car prowls at Mount Rainier National Park.

Jamie David Spain, 39, and Dawn Marie Gale, 44, were arrested Sunday morning and remain in custody. They were charged in federal court.

They each face up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine if convicted.

Rangers noticed an increase in car prowls this month and decided to place “bait cars” in the park to lure possible suspects.

Woman killed in possible homicide-suicide was Sumner teacher

A couple found shot to death Friday in their Enumclaw house have been identified as Amy and Zachary Erwin, both 42.

Enumclaw police found the husband and wife inside their home in the 1700 block of Washington Avenue about 7:30 p.m.

A handgun was found at the scene and detectives are treating the deaths as a possible homicide-suicide. They are still investigating.

Amy Erwin was a teacher at Victor Hills Elementary School in Sumner.

The couple had children, but they were not home at the time of the shootings.

Body found inside charred Enumclaw home

Enumclaw police said a body was found today inside a charred home.

Firefighters were called just before 1 p.m. to a blaze in the 1800 block of Garfield Street and found the back of a home ablaze on Loraine Street, which abuts Garfield Street.

After the flames were extinguished, a body was found.

Investigators have not determined the cause of the fire or released any details.
