Lakewood woman accused of running from cops – both in a car and on foot – arrested for DUI

OK, here’s what not to say to police when they ask you how fast you thought you were going while trying to avoid a drunken-driving arrest:

“Well, I was trying to get the (bleep!) away from you, so pretty fast!”

Alas, that’s allegedly what a 19-year-old Lakewood woman told an officer late Tuesday night after he finally ran her down and tackled her following a car and/or foot chase.

Police: Man suspected of driving under the influence told Puyallup officers he ‘had nothing to lose’

A man deemed too impaired by a Puyallup officer to safely walk the line for a sobriety test early Tuesday morning told police he “didn’t have anything to lose,” spokesman Scott Engle said.

Engle gave this account of the traffic stop and arrest that followed:

Woman pleads not guilty to driving drunk in Fife with several children improperly belted in backseat

The  trooper pulled over a speeding vehicle in Fife containing two allegedly drunk women, several young children improperly belted into the backseat and a nearly empty bottle of Grey Goose vodka.

The 26-year-old driver, who initially provided a false name because she had warrants out for her arrest, pleaded not guilty to felony DUI, reckless endangerment, making a false statement to a public servant and third-degree driving on a suspended license.

The woman was convicted in 2010 of vehicular assault in King County and had her license suspended, court records show.

Man charged in DUI crash in Spanaway that killed one, impaled others with fence posts

Pierce County prosecutors have charged a 23-year-old man with one count of vehicular homicide and five counts of vehicular assault for a fiery car crash in Spanaway last year that killed a woman and impaled others with fence posts.

Joshua White, 24, has not yet been arraigned on the charges.

The collision happened Aug. 31 in the 20300 block of 22nd Avenue East when White lost control of a Chevy truck and the vehicle rolled several times and crashed into a 4-feet-high chain-link fence before catching fire. Neighbors doused the flames while sheriff’s deputies worked to help the injured passengers.

8th DUI arrest for man after Bonney Lake head-on crash

After a head-on collision in Bonney Lake in February, Julio Dimas was arrested for his eighth alleged drunken driving incident.

Pierce County prosecutors have charged Dimas, 26, with felony DUI, driving on a suspended license and failure to have ignition interlock device. He has not yet entered a plea to the charges.

Court records show Dimas was convicted of four prior DUIs and arrested on suspicion of drunken driving in Illinois and Indiana.

State Patrol seeks witnesses to Sunday crash on northbound I-5 in Federal Way

The State Patrol is looking for witnesses to a Sunday night crash that happened on northbound Interstate 5 in Federal Way.

A gold Chrysler 300 crashed just before 11 p.m. with a concrete barrier on the freeway and rolled over onto its top near South 272nd Street, according to the State Patrol.

Troopers said there were three people in the vehicle, and that the driver was arrested for investigation of driving under the influence and vehicular assault.

Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 425-401-7719.

Lakewood boy, two adults injured in drunken driving accident on I-5

A 6-year-old Lakewood boy and two adults were injured late Sunday in a suspected drunken driving accident on Interstate 5 in Kent, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Troopers said a 26-year-old man was driving north on I-5 just before 11 p.m. when he lost control of his 1999 Chrysler, hit the freeway barrier and rolled the vehicle. It landed on its top.

The driver, the 6-year-old boy and a 28-year-old woman in the passenger seat were all taken to area hospitals with injuries. The boy was wearing a seat belt, troopers said.

Repeat DUI offender asks to be released from jail, insists he has Department of Defense work to do

David Howard begged to be released from a drunken driving holding cell, insisting he had an “important Department of Defense” project he needed to get to work for.

He told the Fife police officer who arrested him Friday that he didn’t need to do this. He asked for an escort to work. Then, just before he was about to be released, authorities say he boasted that his lawyer would get him off the hook.

Howard, 55, had been through the process before.
