State employee arrested at Tacoma home on suspicion of domestic violence

A state Department of Corrections employee was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence over the weekend after his wife called Tacoma police to report they had been in a physical fight.

The incident occurred about 8:05 p.m. Saturday.

Police responded to the couple’s home in the 5200 block of South Orchard Street but the husband had already fled the scene. His wife sustained minor injuries and did not need to be taken to the hospital.

When he returned home hours later, officers returned to the house and took him into custody. Police said the husband is a non-commissioned DOC employee.

Tacoma father accused of abusing son with electrical power cord

A Tacoma father was arrested Wednesday night after assaulting his 17-year-old son with an electrical power cord because the teenager came home late.

Officers were called to their home in the 3600 block of S. Park Avenue about 9:20 p.m.

Police said the father was angry that his son had been coming home late and decided to punish him by repeatedly hitting him with the cord and punching him in the face. The son eventually wrestled the power cord away and choked his father with it until the man passed out. The son then called 911.

Fife man gave brother’s name to try and avoid arrest for domestic violence

Fife police said a man wanted for a domestic violence assault tried to avoid arrest by using his twin brother’s name.

Officers were called to a home in the 4600 block of Pacific Highway East about 5 p.m. Tuesday after several neighbors reported hearing a loud argument.

While being questioned, the man pretended to be his twin brother because he has an outstanding warrant for his arrest in Auburn.

Police ended up arresting both the man and woman on suspicion of domestic violence, obstructing a public servant and making false statements to a police officer.

Federal Way man stabs self after standoff with police

A 911 hang-up call drew police to a Federal Way home around 2 a.m. Sunday, and upon arriving, police heard a woman screaming inside the home.

According to Federal Way police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock, as police attempted to make contact with the woman, she ran out of the house in the 3900 block of Southwest 328th Place and told officers that her husband was inside the house with their four children. She said he was armed with a knife.

Troopers arrest man suspected of following woman on I-5

A 26-year-old Bonney Lake woman may have avoided abduction by calling 911 Friday, troopers say.

She told troopers that she was “afraid to pull over,” after noticing that a man in a black BMW was following her on Interstate 5 by Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

The vehicle followed her when she would change lanes, and kept behind her as she continued to SR 512 and then SR 410, where it was stopped by troopers near the Sumner Buckley Highway

When troopers identified the man driving, they learned the woman had a protection order against him related to a domestic violence case

UPDATED: WSP arrests man suspected of injuring woman on I-5 near DuPont

UPDATED at 7:03 a.m.:

Washington State Patrol troopers arrested a man late Sunday after he allegedly injured a woman while in a car on Interstate 5.

Troopers were called to the area near the northbound I-5 WSP scale house in DuPont for reports of a man seen running along the shoulder with a gun.

They went to the scale house and found an injured woman sitting in a vehicle, trooper Guy Gill reported via Twitter.

Officer struck, three arrested during DV call at Tacoma home

Tacoma police arrested a woman and two men Monday night after tempers flared and one officer was assaulted during a domestic violence call.

Officers were called to a home in the 4100 block of South Yakima Avenue just before 10:30 p.m., Tacoma police reported. When they arrived, they saw a man and woman fighting.

When officers tried to arrest the woman because she appeared to be the primary aggressor, her son and husband stepped in. The son reportedly hit one officer in the face, police reported.

Family Justice Center receives $750,000 grant

The Crystal Judson Family Judson Center has received a two-year, federal grant to help domestic violence victims.

The $750,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women was announced today.

“The grant is designed to encourage arrest policies and enforcement of protection orders by providing funding for partner agencies doing victim advocacy work at the Family Justice Center, as well as for other programs and services for victims of domestic violence in the community,” a press release from Pierce County states.
