UPDATED: No one injured in train-car crash downtown Tacoma

UPDATE as of 4:09 p.m. Tacoma Link light rail has resumed normal service, according to Sound Transit. According to Tacoma Fire, it appeared that the car had clipped the train.

INITIAL POST: No one was injured in a light rail-car crash that happened about 3 p.m. at South 13th and Commerce streets downtown Tacoma, according to Tacoma Fire.

Service has been disrupted in the area as crews clear the scene, according to Sound Transit.

Amtrak train hits unattended car in Sumner

The Coast Starlight train, on its way from Los Angeles to Seattle, hit an unattended vehicle in Sumner parked on the tracks at 8:04 tonight, according to Amtrak.

No one was injured in the crash at Zehnder Street, according to Amtrak, and the train was on its way again at 8:55 p.m.

53 passengers were on board.

Amtrak train hits pickup on JBLM land south of Tacoma, kills driver

An Amtrak Cascades train hit a pickup truck about 19 miles south of Tacoma on Joint Base Lewis-McChord land about 7 p.m. tonight, killing the driver, according to JBLM spokeswoman Brendalyn Carpenter.

The train left Seattle at 5:30 p.m. on its way to Portland, and had about 153 passengers on board at the time of the accident at Solo Point, according to Amtrak spokeswoman Vernae Graham.

No one on the train was injured.

The base is not yet releasing information about the victim, Carpenter said.

JBLM law enforcement and first responders are on the scene, she said.

Union Pacific train hits car with two passengers in Fife

UPDATE: One man in the vehicle was taken to the hospital in critical condition, and the other man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Commander T. Floyd with the Fife Police Department said.

INITIAL POST: Medics were called to a car-train accident in Fife at 6:48 p.m, Tacoma fire Battalion Chief Jim Zuluaga said.

The car was crossing the tracks at 4020 78th Ave. E in Fife when it was hit by a Union Pacific train that was going about 40 miles per hour,  Zuluaga said.

Woman slightly injured in Puyallup train collision

UPDATE: The BNSF freight train – three engines pulling 93 cars – was westbound when it hit the woman, who was traveling southbound on 12th Street Northwest, McDonald said. The train hit the rear of her car, which was lucky for her, he said.

Still, she was taken to the hospital with some injuries, and she’s looking at a fine for driving past the gates, McDonald said.

The crossing is expected to be closed for another half hour or so, he added.

Car-train crash on Tacoma tideflats injures one person

Tacoma police and responded to a car vs. Tacoma Rail train crash early this morning in the 2000 block of Marine View Drive on the Tacoma tideflats.

Fire Department spokesman Joe Meinecke said the call came in at 1:04 a.m. He said a person in the car was taken to the hospital.

Tacoma Rail spokeswoman Chris Gleason said they were moving the train across the road when a motorist drove around a flagger and hit the back end of a rail car.  She said the flagger was waving his sign frantically but she simply drove around him.
