Man convicted in Fife gun theft sentenced to life in prison

A man Fife police believe helped plan the theft of more than three dozen guns from a sporting goods store was sentenced Thursday to life in prison without the possibility of parole under Washington’s “three strikes you’re out” law.

Soeun Sun, 30, said nothing before Superior Court Judge James Orlando handed down the sentence.

Four charged with burglary for breaking into Tacoma home after woman moved to nursing home

Once the woman moved into a nursing home, there was nobody at the unincorporated Tacoma house to ward off burglars.

Neighbors noticed the front door wide open Wednesday and called 911. Pierce County sheriff’s deputies responded and found four people rummaging around inside.

Three men and one woman pleaded not guilty Thursday to a single count of residential burglary.

One of the men claimed he was asked to help one of his friend’s grandparents move out of the home and did not realize it was a burglary.

Three plead guilty in burglary that netted 41 guns from Fife store

Three men pleaded guilty today to their roles in the theft of more than three dozen guns from a Fife sporting goods store in 2011.

David Bunta, who wore a Santa hat during the break-in at the Sportco store, pleaded guilty to burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, trafficking in stolen property and conspiracy to commit trafficking in stolen property, deputy prosecutor Gregory Greer said.

Superior Court Judge James Orlando sentenced the 22-year-old to nine years in prison.

David J. Garcia, 27, pleaded guilty to trafficking in stolen property and conspiracy and was sentenced to a year in jail.

Hammer-wielding man chases Tacoma burglar several blocks

The hammer-wielding Tacoma man bloodied his feet chasing the burglar several blocks, but he never gave up.

The 46-year-old burglar finally did when police came to the man’s aid.

It was about 2 a.m. when the man awoke and heard someone rummaging through his detached garage in the 4300 block of Tacoma Avenue. He grabbed a hammer on his way to investigate.

When he spotted a burglar prowling his pickup truck, he gave chase. His girlfriend called 911.

Police arrived and arrested the man on suspicion of burglary after he stopped running from the homeowner.

Puyallup police seek man who stole Children’s Miracle Network donation bin

Puyallup police are asking for the public’s held in identifying a man wanted for stealing a Children’s Miracle Network donation bin.

The theft occurred about 7:10 p.m. Jan. 20 outside a Walmart store, 310 31st Ave Southeast. Witnesses and surveillance footage captured two men loading the donation bin into a black 1990s Ford Thunderbird and driving away.

One of the men was arrested. He told police he only knew his accomplice by the nickname “Ahab,” given because the man apparently looks like a pirate.

Court records: Beer-drinking burglars charged with trying to steal from Lakewood elementary school

Beer-drinking burglars weren’t successful in stealing electronics from a Lakewood elementary school, court records show.

The group of five, accused of breaking into portables at Oakwood Elementary School and taking cameras and computers from the buildings, pleaded not guilty Friday.

The five, ranging from 18- to 25-years-old, pleaded not guilty to charges of second-degree burglary and second-degree theft Friday in Pierce County Superior Court.

According to court records:

Officers responded to Oakwood at 3:16 a.m. Thursday after a report that alarms were set off in two portable buildings, which police confirmed had been broken into.
