UPDATED: Homeowners with guns confront burglars in Gig Harbor, Bonney Lake

UPDATED at 11:09 a.m.:

Pierce County law enforcement officers are investigating two burglaries this morning – one near Gig Harbor, one in Bonney Lake – in which the homeowners pulled guns on the would-be thieves.

In the Bonney Lake incident, the homeowner fired a shotgun at the suspect’s truck as it drove away, officer Todd Green said. It wasn’t immediately known whether the shot hit the truck or the would-be thief was injured.

UPDATED: Bonney Lake police arrest man wanted in DV shooting

UPDATED at 1:30 p.m.

Investigators have arrested a man suspected of shooting at his wife Tuesday night as she left their Bonney Lake home.

Detectives found the 27-year-old man in a Federal Way motel and arrested him without incident about 11:45 a.m. today, Bonney Lake police reported. He was booked into Pierce County Jail on suspicion of multiple felony domestic violence-related charges, being a felon in possession of a firearm and an unrelated warrant.

UPDATED: Bonney Lake accepts storm debris from its residents

Bonney Lake residents who are cleaning up debris from last week’s storm can bring the broken branches to the city’s gravel boat launch across from Allen Yorke Park.

The city will accept storm debris from Bonney Lake residents only from Tuesday through Feb. 5.

The debris can be brought to the gravel boat launch parking lot, also known as Ball Park 4, daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The launch is at 19500 Bonney Lake Blvd. E.

The city will only be accepting tree limbs. The limbs must not be longer than eight feet and not larger than 10

Threatening note prompts lockdown at Bonney Lake school

Mountain View Middle School was placed on a modified lockdown today after a someone found a note indicating a bomb was in the building.

A student later admitted to writing the note because he wanted to get out of a test, the Bonney Lake Police Department reported this afternoon. The student was emergency expelled from school and released to his parents.

Officers were called to the school, 10920 199th Ave. Ct., at 7:30 a.m. to investigate the threatening note, the department reported. The note indicated a bomb would detonate at 12:30 p.m.

The school was placed in a modified lockdown.

UPDATED: Police catch man after he strikes two Bonney Lake police vehicles

UPDATED at 2:10 p.m.

Bonney Lake police arrested a man Tuesday after he allegedly hit two police vehicles in a stolen car.

Officers had tried to stop the purple Chevrolet Corvette just after 12:15 p.m. on 183rd Avenue East. They had confirmed the vehicle was stolen, police reported.

The vehicle didn’t stop and struck a detective’s unmarked car. Officers pursued the vehicle after it sped off, police reported. The car drove through stop signs and red lights.

Deputies involved in fatal shooting in Bonney Lake identified

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office today identified two deputies involved in a Nov. 13 shooting in Bonney Lake that killed a 38-year-old woman.

Deputies Tristin Marrs, 26, and Kelly Carolus, 49, remain on administrative leave, which is standard procedure after a police shooting.

Authorities said Holly Crahay was driving recklessly in a shopping-center parking lot near 196th Avenue and refused to pull over for a deputy.

After the deputy performed a “pursuit intervention technique” on Crahay’s car, pinning it against a guardrail on Myers Road, she allegedly opened fire on two police vehicles.

Bonney Lake man dies after crash Saturday in Enumclaw

A 26-year-old Bonney Lake man who was driving a car that crashed early Saturday in Enumclaw has died.

Derek T. Phifer died Sunday at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, the Washington State Patrol reported Monday.

Troopers believe Phifer was going east on state Route 164 about 1:45 a.m. Saturday when he crossed into the westbound lanes just east of Southeast 382nd Street. His car left the roadway and hit several trees.

The car wasn’t discovered until several hours later when walkers spotted the wreckage, troopers reported.

Bonney Lake police search for suspect after attempted abduction

Bonney Lake police have stepped up patrols after a man tried to abduct a teenage girl Friday morning as she waited for her school bus on Angeline Road East.

Bonney Lake police have no leads and made no arrests in the case, the department reported this afternoon.

The 17-year-old girl told police she was sitting on a bench in the 11300 block of Angeline Road East shortly before 7:10 a.m. Friday when she was approached by a man, police reported.

The suspect grabbed the girl from behind and told her to come with him.
