A house fire displaced three adults and three children under the age of 10 Sunday afternoon in Tacoma.

Tacoma Fire crews responded to the blaze at the one-story home about 1 p.m. at South 56th and South M streets.

Half of the house was involved in the fire when crews arrived, and the flames had spread to the attic.

All the residents were able to safely leave the house by that time.

At one point firefighters were worried the flames would spread to a house next door, and crews worked on that side of the blaze to contain the fire, Battalion Chief Allen Estes said.

No one was injured, and the fire was out at 2 p.m.

The cause is still being investigated.

The American Red Cross is helping those displaced find temporary housing.
