UPDATED: Stove burner caused $60,000 in damages to Tacoma home

UPDATE as of 2:05 p.m.: A fire that caused $60,000 in damages to a Tacoma home today was started by a stove top burner that was accidentally left on, according to the Fire Department.

No one was home at the time of the blaze.

INITIAL POST: Tacoma firefighters have extinguished a blaze that broke out this morning at a house on Westgate Boulevard.

The road remains closed while crews mop up the scene in the 6300 block of Westgate Boulevard.

Firefighters responded to the home about 11:30 a.m. and doused the flames. No injuries were reported. A cause has not been determined.
